Best Airline from Toronto to Orlando?

The reality is Buffalo is better equiped for winter than Pearson. Flown multiple times in winter. Yes there have been delays but they have been the result of issues from where the planes are coming from.

Well--there was a time about 4 years ago we arrived back into Buffalo in Feb. There had been an ice storm..my car was encapsulated in a sheet of ice. The shuttle dropped us, we had remote start thankfully...waited about 10 mins and we got into the car. Sat there for about another 5 mins..started the wipers and they snapped off. Most surrounding highways/roads were closed. We managed to get to a local hotel, stayed overnight and headed home the next day. I vowed then, never ever again. We can get nasty winters...they can get AWFUL !!!

exactly winters in buffalo can be way worse then in Toronto. Yes Person may have flights canceled at times in the winter but that is usually only when there is a really bad storm like the one this week.

Yes, and chances are I can get home from Pearson which at the end of a trip is just where I want to go. Not some hokey Buffalo hotel.

Not everyone lives in the GTA, though. For us, its an easier drive getting home from Syracuse than Pearson. The distance is a smidge longer but there's no ridiculous traffic to deal with.

My SIL and BIL live in Stoney Creek, and like us, its far easier for them to fly from BUF than from Pearson.

There are lots of very clean, affordable hotels right across from the Buffalo airport. I wouldn't hesitate to spend the night if I returned in a blizzard. I would just see it as an extension of my vacation. :thumbsup2

That makes sense as Syracuse isa is the closest airport to you. If I lived closer to an airport in the sates I would most likely fly out of it. However I don't drive and don'tr really want to take a bus across the border to get to an airport 4 hours away when I can get a lift to YYZ.

Distance wise, its not closer. We are closer to Pearson. But despite it being somewhat further, its still the easier drive vs. Toronto when traffic is taken into consideration. Once we hit Pickering, depending on the day of the week and the time of day, traffic can become an absolute nightmare from there to the airport.

Other than weather, there's no such issues on our commute to Syracuse. And not all of our trips are in the winter, so weather isn't always a consideration, either.

How would that be any different at Pearson though? I bet hundreds of people arrived home Sat night/Sunday morning last week to cars encased in ice from our storm and had a terrible time digging out.

If I was at YYZ and the weather was horrible I would get a YYZ hotel room rater than get on the 401 and head home in a blizzard, unless maybe I lived in Malton off Airport rd.

We are lucky to live close to the border.

55 kms from my door to the BUF airport parking lot. :thumbsup2

128 kms from our door to Pearson.

They had been having awful weather..best available accommodation was 'hokey' at best!

I totally understand if Buffalo is closer for you YES! Not everyone is in the GTA indeed. For me? 20-25 mins to Pearson ...75 mins to Buffalo. Often fare makes the decision--but for example, we are flying to MCO on March 29. Just priced AC crazy $$ ...Westjet $580 taxes incl (pp) and Jetblue $623 USD which at the moment - not ideal with the exchange.Flight departs at 0800 so either very early start or overnight hotel to be factored in. Add fuel, parking. Doesn't make sense. :confused3

Of course if you can fly out of Toronto for cheaper then why not?

But we flew out of Buffalo in August, October and December this year. Our round trip, direct flights ranged from $198 - $230 per person round trip. A savings of about $1400 in total for our family of four each time. Totally worth it for us! :thumbsup2

BTW.... We usually book as early as possible for the best prices.

I am curious though.....what defines a "hokey" hotel for you? :confused3

You know...I can't even remember what hotel it was? A Holiday Inn I think?
It wasn't very clean...biggest issue for me..and they gouged price-wise knowing rooms were scarce. I have to say I was a big Buffalo traveller. But that experience plus a couple of other mediocre travel plans just knocked them down the list somewhat. I also find the border not as timely as it once was ...too bad.

That's too bad. That would bother me too.
