I'm hoping for some advice here. We brought DS1 to WDW for the first time last May, he was 14 months old and handled everything wonderfully. I gave birth to our second son just over a month ago and as DS1 is so much more into all things Disney now I really want to plan a trip to visit the World within the next year. The only thing is timing - we would like DS2 to be a couple of months before making the trip and we would like to avoid visiting during peak time so the summer is out. What time of year would be best and what would be the best age to bring DS2? If we were to look at going in Oct or Nov he would be 8/9 months - does anyone have any advice as to whether this is a good age or bad age to bring a baby? Any tips or ideas welcomed!

That is a GREAT time of year. Late Oct or early Nov so you get nice temps would be perfect. I think the baby will be fine at that age.

My kids would have been find at that age. I think worm pointed out an important consideration. I think the most important part of planning with a baby would be going when baby isn't going to be miserable outside all day.

We took DD for her first trip at 8 mos and it was a blast! She could go on all the slow stuff with us, loved the characters, and did well taking naps in the stroller.

I don't think there is really a "wrong" age. The only possible downside to that age is they might be starting to crawl and wanting to go go go, but it wouldn't stop me. Both of my kids learned to crawl on vacation. That's a great time of year to go.

I think that is a perfect time of year. Also I think 8-9 months is a good age. You should have a great time.

Enjoy!

Thanks so much for the feedback :goodvibes

Completely didn't think about the crawling thing. Are there places in any of the parks where he could be let down to crawl if needed?

We took our now 2 year old for the 1st time when he was 4 months old. It was great, he hung out in the carrier, nursed or slept the whole time...fairly easy! I think 8-9 months old would be ok but like someone else said he may be crawling at that time, plus probably eating solids by then. IMO I'd be more worried about taking the 2 year old than the baby, lol. Our 1st time going to disneyworld was when our now 10 year old was 2...and lets just say although we had fun, I wish we would've waited...it was just too much for a 2 year old. But...hello, we're going in May with a 2 year old. The more kids you have the crazier you get. :lmao:

Its so hard to know! If we go in November DS1 will be 2 years 9 months old and DS2 will be 9 months old. If we don't go late this year/early next year then the boys will be a good bit older before we go back. We are planning on hopefully getting pregnant (third and last child may I add!) early next year so that would mean I'd be pregnant, all going to plan, for most of 2015 and maybe some of 2016 so it'd be 2017 at the very earliest we'd be going back! I just have this fear that if we don't bring DS1 back before 2017 he'll miss out on some of the magic. And selfishly I'll add that I loved seeing it through his eyes on our last trip and hes so much more advanced now it'd be even better seeing it his way! We brought him to the zoo for his birthday a couple if weeks ago and even though he had been there when he was smaller it was so much better this time. Well judging by current flight prices a trip this year may well not happen :( I'm hoping for a good sale in the coming weeks! Its DHs birthday in November so I could pretend the flights were a present haha!

I've taken a kid that had just started crawling. They can be let loose in the Baby Care centers, but we all caught H1N1 that way (that age they're also putting their mouths on everything). He honestly didn't care so much because there was so much to look at in the stroller/carrier. We let him crawl in the room. The hardest part was when we tried to eat table service, because he really didn't want to sit still at a table while we ate.
