Hello, I'm still trying to book my first ever ABD. The Danube River cruise sold out too quick for us to book. So what would be the best adults only ABD trip to take for first timers?

I just booked my first ABD for October 2016 (adult exclusive) to San Francisco. From all of the reports I've read it sounds like they are all fabulous and all of the adult exclusives appear to be very similar (if not the exact itinerary) as all of the other adventures. So, my suggestion would be to book whichever adventure itinerary appeals to you most.

I booked San Francisco because I love the city the one time I visited and would love to see more of it,but also because my husband really has no desire to go to Europe and he just doesn't have enough PTO for the Australia adventure yet. The tops on my list for Europe/Asia/Central America, which I will do solo, are China, Vietnam, Italy, Italy and Switzerland, Greece, Scotland, Peru and even the BSM sounds awesome. So I guess I need to start saving :-)

I'm sure others will weigh in,but I think you just look for the itinerary that you really find intriguing and book it. If the river cruise appealed to you maybe consider the Austria, Germany and Czech Republic trip?? Whatever you pick, I'm sure you will love it

Hmmm, I guess it would depend on what region you are interested in traveling to. We've done BSM twice now and I think that's a good one for adults only, as long as you appreciate Disney. If you're more into foreign travel then I'd suggest the Viva Italia tour. We did that in September 2014 with an all-adult group and really enjoyed it.

Just another thought to go along with what I posted above; you might want to consider just doing one of the shorter trips just to see how you like it. The SF weekend one looks pretty interesting.

Are all of the cruises sold out?? Or just the one(s) that worked for you date-wise?

I think tgeorge is totally correct! It's really what itinerary appeals to you. I can tell you which trips were my favorites, but it's because they were the best itineraries for me, not because they somehow were better suited as Adult Only trips than another trip. I've done the Arizona & Utah trip, Alaska, the Med cruise add-on (the only one that wasn't Adult Only), England & France, Greece & Scotland. They all worked fantastically as Adults Only. The Guides are really excellent at getting the Adults involved in the activities (although they usually don't have to work hard!)

So I agree with tgeorge. If you were drawn to the river cruise itinerary/ destinations, go for the Central Europe ABD. If you're looking for people's favorites, I'd say my top 3 in order were: Greece, Arizona/Utah & Scotland. But they were all fabulous! You really can't go wrong.

All of the summer Danube River cruises are sold out. Great ideas on the shorter ABD trips. Are the adults only time frames always listed? Or do they get added on later?

Looks like ABD has struck gold. Knowing absolutely nothing, I would not be surprised if they expanded their River Cruise offerings for the following season (2017). My guess is it will be similar to the Disney Magic and how it approaches Europe in the summer. Every year since 2010 they've added and tweaked different itineraries. First they had the Western Med. That did well, so they added a cruise that did a bit of western (Italy, France) and eastern med (greece). That did well, so they added a predominately Greece cruise, etc.

As far as Adults only, my DW and I will be going on our first foreign one to Ireland this fall. We're very much looking forward to it. I did BSM last Christmas. It was great. They're all great from my experience.

If you look at the dates of the trips you will see the ones that are adult exclusives as they are clearly labeled. They seem to be done in the spring and fall time frame. So, if summer is when you have to go you may have to go with a non adult exclusive.

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling there will never be an adult exclusive river cruise (if they expand into 2017) since they have to fill the entire boat. But that is just my opinion and I could be very wrong on that.

I think your feeling is probably correct. As you say, they have to fill the whole ship, and opening it to non-ABD customers would defeat the purpose of it being an ABD departure, and would not be as successful. So it's likely not to happen. (It's not like a hotel, where they can just reserve the rooms they need). And if they did open it to non-ABD customers, there'd be no guarantees kids wouldn't end up on the ship anyway...

The July 21 Danube cruise is not sold out. I just called 3 days ago. It has maybe 20 some spots left. Now, maybe the room category you're looking for is sold out? It is not adult only though, there are 30 some kids and 105 adults so far.

Our First ABD was in May 2013. Adults Only Viva Italia. It was Fantastico! I am SO glad we made this one our First. We had Marco B and Dusty as our Guides. We were the first "Family" that did the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museum after Hours. In the Sistine Chapel, there was the 12 Guests, 2 ABD Guides, 1 Local Guide (Cristina in Rome) and 2 Guards....that is ALL. 2 years later, we still keep in touch with several members of the "Family".

I was thinking about the SF one as well. The SF Fairmont is a traditional, elegant hotel of the early 1900's "family money" type. It has it all-fabulous linens, a tea room, gilded ceilings and amazing fresh floral arrangements. You will feel like a Vanderbilt staying there. And the city is just wonderful.

The room category has a lot to do with the cruise. We are looking for the cheapest cabin on the Danube cruises. Those are totally sold out ( for summer cruises).

It actually looks like all cabins are sold out on all summer cruises except for the Aug 4th cruise, which only has Suites left. I can understand not wanting to pay for a Suite!

We just got back from the adults only San Francisco trip. This was our 5th ABD and 2nd adults only ABD. It was wonderful! I will be posting a trip report this weekend.

You should consider looking at the Austria, Germany and Czech Republic trip, which has 2 adult only trips in September. This trip has an itinerary that while not the same, does still cover a number of the same locations, especially in Austria.

I just got back 2 weeks ago from my very first ABD trip...Viva Italia with Dusty and Marco. I called them my Prince Charming and my Knight in Shining Armor! They were so awesome... but now I am spoiled for life!!LOL!!

I'm looking for any discounts on any of the adult ABD for 2016. Is there a sight or link that would post that info? I now see the Germany, Austria, Cech ABD is guaranteed. Is that an Adults only trip?
