I know I love planning our trips.....but I have been so busy for the past few months I have barely been on here since Easter....so I feel so out of the planning loop. So it got me thinking.....about how many of us DVCers wing the rest of the trip....where we go, where we eat....stuff like that???? I do have ADRs but that is about it.

I am heading down next Friday and I didn't even do the ADRs. I know I am staying at OKW, but haven't planned much beyond that. If we do have a sit down meal it is at lunch or outside the park, so ADRs never seems to be an issue.

The important thing for us is hitting the new rides, slowing down and losing all that work stress.

Finding the butterfly boxes.

Checking out the rose gardens in MK and Epcot.

Catching a Disney Tour?

Plans are of the order of lunch someday in France, dinner at Fat Boy's Barbeque, Fish and Chips and a Beer in England, something at the Morocco's Tangerine Cafe, a meal at Waffle House for my wife.

I don't even do that much. I order groceries ahead of time and hope to eat at the Yachtman's Steakhouse one night while I'm there, but I make no other plans. It's a vacation! :-)

My wife and I generally plan each day once we get down to WDW. We try not to stress about where we're going.
We do take into account each day:

-Extra Magic Hrs
-Weather
-Personal Preferance
-Special event within a park

...and that's about it. We get parkhoppers so that if the crowds get to be too much, or if we have dining reservations, we can switch parks to meet that need.
We prefer to do this so we wouldn't feel anxious or going "commando" through each park; and we do get to everything we want to do at some point of our vacation.
I know that this may not work if you're with groups of people, or don't have parkhoppers....but it has worked well for us.

Would you like to know which pair of socks I'll be wearing on July 30th, or what appetizer I'll be ordering at 11:37 am on August 3rd? It's all in my master plan. :rotfl2:

Once we arrive at the resort there is no schedule or plan until it is time to leave. We take it as it comes and do what we want when we feel like doing it.

Uhh... I have to take it back... at Vero Beach we always plan to get up in time to walk on the beach for sunrise. Guess we're planners after all :worried:

Maybe on the DIS you can call yourself a winger, but in the real world, if you have ADR's already, you aren't winging it.

I'm a planner and am dealing with coordinating a family trip with some actual wingers. They are having a hard time with some very basic questions - such as do you want to go to Epcot, or the MK. Apparently, it's too much to ask that such decisions be made ahead of time. The right thing to do is wake up and have the "I don't know, what do you want to do today" conversation that morning.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Our family pretty much wing all of our trips, one of the main reason why we shouldn't have joined DVC as you do need to make your ressie so far out, but we couldn't resist. Last time we went, we booked a trip less than a month out and has no ADR when we arrived, and actually found it easy to make ADR when we arrived. We honestly have no plans everyday, we usually take whatever bus or boat comes first. :lmao:

Was away for the last week and when I got home DD had dropped off her itinerary for our Sept trip. She has the park of the day and all ADRs listed. My DH and I usually do the "whichever bus arrives first" approach to the parks and then take it from there for the rest of the day. Should be an interesting trip. We did agree to 4 ADRs that include the whole group but plan to be on our own for the rest. They are the be there for opening group and we are the sit back and enjoy the coffee on the balcony before setting forth for the day. Fortunately we will be at different resorts this trip so will be able to use "we'll meet you at ................ and we'll give you a call when we're on our way ". They haven't learned the art of relaxing yet but maybe it will come in time.

When traveling with a large group (15 this year) if you don't have ADR's you will be eating counter service every meal, We are on the DDP, and have made our ADR's for all the meals, Between meals everyone is on there own, With the ARD's most meals are faster then tray service for 15. Besides, I relax all day at work, and need a vacation to spice up my life!! lol

Enjoy your trips folks!!!
