My dad is planning to plan a trip to DLR but he's a teacher and only gets holidays when kids are out of school so November isn't an option for him(my favorite time to go) so I'm wondering when you think is the best time of year.
I know there have been posts about "is May a good time" and "is Summer good" but I would like to hear when your favorite time to go is and why. And are there any holidays that students get off school where Disneyland is still relatively quiet?
Thanks guys.

The moment he gets out in June would probably be best. The earlier in June, the better, before it gets too crowded and too hot.

I can't think of any school holidays when it's not crowded.

We have actually had really good luck with trips during mid winter break.
Some districts have it in March or early April NOT during Easter week. Less crowded then those major school breaks.

This year we did Christmas because DH breaks (student teaching) and our DS breaks don't match up at all this year. He gets done in May, the boys don't get done with school until second week of June... I burn easily and can't handle the heat. Christmas (I have heard) is very special . I went in November once and loved the decorations.

Early June is not too bad, we did that one trip.. just starting to get hot, some school groups but not crazy busy yet.

Thank-you very much that is very helpful. I feel bad for him that he can't really take extra holidays but he said what he could do is take a couple extra days before break so maybe if he went right before his christmas break or something. Personally I love the christmas decorations. Anyway thanks so much for your advice it was very helpful. If I could give you points I would give you points. Oh what the heck here are 50 imaginary Christmas points. pixiedust:

This year DL really decorated for Halloween, so if he could get time off in October, that would be a great time, especially if they decorate again next year.

October wasn't too busy? was this the first year they decorated for Halloween?

This was the first year they went all out. Weekends were busier than weekdays, I expect. California Adventure did Mickey's Halloween Treat--trick or treating--on some weekends. You usually had to get tickets in advance. They sold out quickly.

Hi there, we went in may and due to our kids ages, 15, 12, and 10 we were looking for a time when the kids would miss as little school as possible...we are also in canada....we also wanted an extended trip...we ended up going for 10 nights at disneyland plus 1 in vanouver so 11 nights, 12 days and my kids missed 6 school days...we chose may as we went through victoria day and a professional day...it was great as we headed home before the american long weekend....in may we had great weather, low crowds(during the week it was amazing crowd wise)....i know that many canadian schools have a professional day near victoria day, so maybe if he could plan along that with a few extra days off and the 2 weekends, he could get a full week....we had so much fun we cant wait to go back.....

That's a great idea thankyou. The american kids will still have school those days and he'll only have to miss a couple of days of work which he can do. That's smart, thanks.
