Hello Everyone! :flower3:

Besides bouquets and rose wands, has anyone ever had their bridesmaids carry something else down the aisle? Even if they didn't carry it down, have you ever considered alternatives? I would love to hear ALL ideas. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I remember a bride on here had a Disneyland wedding adn her bridesmaids carried big sparkly butterflys!

One of my daughter's friends had an outdoor wedding and each of the bridesmaids carried a parasol, they were really pretty.

I saw some pictures from a beach wedding where the bridesmaids carried conch shells (they look like they were filled with sea grass and some wildflowers). I've also seen decorated fans.

My girls all carried flower balls

I remember Peacock Feathers from one wedding, but I can't find it on the boards. :confused3

I know its not something to carry, by my mam (who is a florist) sometimes suggests corsages for brides who dont want their bridesmaids to carry anything?

I had a ton of different options available when I asked about flower balls...
Initially, they were on my BEO as hydrangeas at $125 a piece. I asked Laura Kidd for suggestions on how to lower the price and she suggested carnations at $85. I asked if we could add gerbera daisies and she did. The balls came out to $85 for the flower ball and $15 for the black jeweled handle. The handles looked great but they were just not made to hold the weight of the flowers (they were HEAVY because there was a water source in there) and the metal rings that held the jewels together started coming apart and they cut the girls hands... So I would just skip the handle and use a ribbon. It's cheaper and easier.
We all got a lot of compliments on the flower balls and no one knew that they were carnations (which was something I worried about a lot).
I'm sure that you could talk to your floral person and they could put together a few different options for you.

I loooooved Lindsay's flower balls. I think what really made them was the handle. It's a shame that they were falling apart and slicing up everyone's hands!!

Carnations are becoming rather trendy too.

Or maybe I'm just partial to them, since I planned to use them from the start.

Here is an example of my bridesmaids bouquets.

Along the same lines... I'm concidering soemthing like this:

I'm not talented enough to make them, but they're on etsy, and there are online instructions on how to make them yourself too.

Since our wedding is in late December (and vintage style) we're making silk velvet muffs and pinning a spray of orchids to the front. They'll have coordinated cape/jackets. I loved the idea of parasols, but I'm afraid it'd look weird under SBP during winter....

One of my bridesmaids had just had a baby, so she carried him instead of flowers. We called him the flower baby. He wore a kilt that matched all of the guys, a little Mickey tie and little black shoes. So cute. She did end up trading him off once she got up there so she didn't have to hold him the whole time (too hot).

I love it! How cute!!!

You don't have to do bouquets. I went to one wedding and the back-up singers all carried one single lily. It looked GORGEOUS. And simply elegant. Is there a single flower you like?

I have heard of bridesmaids carrying fans. I have seen them on different websites along with the parasols.
