Berry Boxes - anybody know where to buy them?

Does anybody have a roadside stand or sell produce from their garden? My kids want to sell berries and I have no idea what to put them in. I checked on line, but all I could come up with comes in quantities of 100's of boxes - I don't think they will pick that many berries!

A lot of the stands around here put them in little baskets for display, then bag them up when they are sold and keep the baskets for reuse. Maybe you could find something suitable at a dollar store? At least local stand uses those small, cheap plastic baskets, then just tips them into a bag for the customer before refilling the same basket.

A local strawberry stand displays them in baskets, then tips them into box flats that stores would get cans in. You could probably go to your local grocery store and either ask for the flats or just grab some off the shelves. (Some stores will remove the shrink wrap, then stick the flat full of cans on the shelf.)

Oh, my, the hours DB and I spent picking and selling berries and vegetables on the side of the road out of the back of the truck. It's funny that what was a then a chore is something I look now back at it as a great experience.

Anyway, when I was a kid my dad used to get them at Agway, but I'm not sure what the minimum quantity was as we did pick hundreds of cartons full. Our plot of strawberries alone was 50x200 ft.

I would suggest going to the dollar store and picking up a few small baskets and as PP suggested then transferring the berries to brown or colored paper bags ($1.50 for 40 white or red bags at Target).

Just note that you can't sell them by the pound as you have to have a state certified scale to do that.
