Anyone have a Bernina 830? How are they?

My favorite machine is the old Bernina record 430. It's about 40 years old, but I prefer it to the newer Janomes and Vikings I've used. It's my go-to machine for everyday sewing.

The only downside is that the parts are VERY expensive. A walking foot is over $200 and the zipper foot is $50+ if purchased from a Bernina dealer.

If you are asking about the new 830, I have no idea. I saw the price tag and almost fainted

I know. I bought it for my wife. She deserved it big time. All she did was:

took care of my step- mother until her daughter got around to it.
sat in the hospital with my aunt while she was dying while I took her son home to rest. (he never married.) Took care of her parents until they died. Went through two major operations with me. Thanks to her we each have a sore spot on our bodies. My butt and her foot. She never let me give up. I married an angel.

She loves to sew and quilt.

Awww, that's so sweet! It sounds like she is a lovely lady and you are a wonderful husband That is an absolute top of the line machine that she will love for 40+ years. This is the machine that many sewers dream about but will never get to touch outside a show room.
