Gaspode, sorry I am so late with this, but:

Busy weekend here. I had a great turnout at the charm bracelet party. I added 6 more charms: Irish flag, German flag, sunglasses, deck of cards, Libra, and opal birthstone. I figured out I got approximately $140 worth of merchandise for around $37!! Not bad at all...

DH and I worked all day on something today. It is not quite finished yet. I will post a picture of it a little later. Any guesses? and NO, we were not "sorting the laundry" for those of you with wild imaginations (and you know who you are... )

Sent DS to Scout camp this morning in Talihina. DH didn't get to go with the troop this year. It's pretty unlevel and he's still in the darned walking cast. I didn't sleep well last night and had to get up early to ship him off. I'm a zombie today. Our Scout troop is large and has about 65 boys going to this camp. We have so many boys that they have to have 2 large campsites. Each campsite has a patrol leader. DS was one of those last year. This year he is over the 2 patrol leaders, sort of the go-between for the two sites.

Hope it's a quiet night tonight. Our weather radio just alarmed us that we might have storms later tonight. Hope we do get some rain, but not the storms. I'm looking forward to the week. DD and I usually try to schedule some girl time when DS is away.

I have 4 red bumps on my left arm near the inside of my elbow. They itch like crazy but they don't look like mosquito bites to me. The bumps look almost like pimples or blisters. I am starting to wonder if it is poison ivy or something. But what a weird spot!

DH and I are getting ready to attempt putting insulating film on my kitchen window over the sink. It's a bay or atrium window on the west side of the house. When I cook dinner in the summer, the kitchen gets almost unbearable. This is supposed to keep the heat out in the summer and the heat in in the winter. We'll see if it works. I just want to stop the sun from beating in in the afternoon. I considered shutters, but I enjoy having all my plants in that big window. Just waiting for the sun to go down a little so the windows won't be too hot, as recommended in the instructions. Anyone else ever do this? It SOUNDS easy enough. We'll see.

Gail! I THOUGHT I saw someone in the distance aving my way! Hope the rest of your trip was successful and that the drive wasn't TOO bad....the weather this weekend surely left a lot to be desired!

Lorraine....sorry to hear about the situation dealing with the pool people....a friend of mine had one done several years ago and it's AMAZING how much you feel at their mercy (and obviously THEY know you are...) I hate when something you are looking forward to has to be so aggravating in it's "prep" time....I hope that eventually you can find a more decent company to do business with!

Carol - Congrats on managing the dinner as well as you did! It's helpful to find a "like-minded" soul to sit beside in ADDITION sharing your dessert! Great Job!

I've been posting on the riddle thread but have just now caught up on here since yesterday.

First I want to say a HUGE thanks to all of you for my birthday wishes

I had a really great day I got lots of cards and everyone is so generous with their pressies

DBF got me a new camera. I've had mine only a few years but and I don't want to upset anyone here, it was an APS camera and in my experience they just don't output as good a quality as 35mm (or digital). So I've got a fabulous new 35mm camera to make sure I take lots of snaps of our up-and-coming return to FL! Yay! DBF has a very good digital camera and we have a camcorder but I love to have pictures developed and to hold

OMG! My Mum and Dad got me the most beautiful Steiff teddy bear:

He is gorgeous! My Mum said she just wanted something special that I could keep and isn't he just? I've never had a Steiff before. I love him!

My Brother got me Sims Superstar and the new Eddie Izzard DVD.

I got some of my favourite bathtime smelly things from my Aunt and Uncle

and I got lots of great things from my friends:

* two rennie mackintosh design photo frames (we've just decorated our lounge and this was our theme)
* some powerpuff girl things! Yay! and a big cat which is a money box
* two beautiful bone china mugs with cats on them
* and a romanian phrase book

We went bowling (we being DBF and I, Mum and Dad, Brother and his Girlfriend) and to Frankie and Bennys (yum!) and to top it all off (as if I hadn't had enough!!) they had bought me this cake:

So in short, I'm a lucky lucky girl

We made this headdress for a Cub Scout event coming up this Sunday. It was a pain in the you-know-what to put it together, but I think it turned out great.
