Berkeley County School District, S.C.

Anybody have kids in Berkeley County Schools in SC, or teach there? My brother's family will be living on the naval base down there soon, and their kids will, I guess, be attending this school district. Does anyone know the breakdown of which grades are in which schools? One kid will be in 4th grade, the other in 5th grade.

I am not familiar with the schools there. You might want to check out greatschools.com which lists stats for all schools, including number of students, ethnical background, percentage of free/reduced lunch, and test schools for more information.

We are in the next county over and the schools here vary. Some go up to 4th grade and some up to 5th. Berkeley County Schools are some of the best in SC.

Great to hear. I know they said their kids are going to school on base, I am pretty sure. I hope the 2 kids end up in the same school...transitioning to a new school is hard enough!

Thanks for the info! I should have asked SIL which schools specifically. I know she said the letter they got with the base's info had different information from the school district's website -- so I am guessing SOMEBODY didn't update their website.

I told her it is possible that in 4th grade, the kids go to an intermediate school, not a middle school.
