Bentley the Cat Needs a Home

This is Bentley

Bentley's family is trying to find Bentley a new home. (I am not Bentley's momma, I'm just a co-worker. Momma is a brand NEW momma at wit's end.)

Bentley is spayed and neutered and declawed. He is up to date on all shots, but is terrified of babies, in particular babies grabbing and babies crying. And there are 2 babies (well a baby and a toddler) in Bentley's house, so Bentley has been peeing in chairs ever since the new baby came home.

I think Bentley would thrive in a quieter home and he is a sweet-natured, beautiful boy. I said I'd take Bentley and foster him until I could find him a good home, and I will, but I may be a new divorcee if I do it!

So any Louisiana DISers want to give Bentley a home and keep me happily married?

I live in the Baton Rouge area, but would be happy to meet a DISer half-way to New Orleans or Natchez. I will also be driving across the southern half of the state to visit my folks and partake in the family reunion this weekend, so I could meet someone along 190 or I-10 in Louisiana between Baton Rouge and 171. Any other locations would have to be negotiated.

We are asking a fee for Bentley in the amount of a donation to a reputable animal rescue group in your area equal to their adoption fee.

If you live in Louisiana and know of anyone who wants to adopt a beautiful long-haired 'meezer looking cat pass this along!

You may want to contact one of the Siamese Cat rescues (there is one in VA, I don't know if there is one closer) and let them include him on their weekly adoption lists.

He's beautiful! I hope you guys are able to find him a good home soon!

Thanks for the hint about Siamese Rescue. Unfortunately there's no 'meezer rescue group near us.

And I wish Poohbear123 or Robinrs could take him!

My two 11 year old females would probably eat him for lunch the second I left the house. Mean little witches, ; ). I would drive to your house now if I thought he would fit in, but my girls would not make it an easy transition. I am so sad. : ( .

Ilovejack02 - I volunteer with one of the BR cat rescue groups (the one you mentioned, actually), so I may wind up fostering him and taking him to adoption days until he gets adopted, if they'll have him.

And yes, please, if you would put him on Facebook I'd be grateful! I'm trying to spread my umbrella as far and wide as I can - he's still at the new momma's house, and I'd like to transition him from her house to his new home without a pit stop at my place. (And the donation fee could be to Project Purr, which wouldn't be a huge amount. )

It's just that the first thing his current momma said was "animal control". In BR animals that are surrendered by their owners to animal control are automatically put down. She didn't know that, she thought that as he's a Meezer he'd go to their adoptable pets section, but she is at wit's end and doesn't have energy or time for a full bore effort to find him a home. It's a bad situation for him and it won't get any better for a few years, so I'm trying to find him home. I wish I could take him, but we have 4 cats and two big dogs.

What a beautiful boy! Poor Bentley-- I hate when people feel like they have to give up their pets. One of my co-workers tried to give away his cat after they had a new baby because it wasn't dealing very well, but we talked him out of it and in a few months made the transition okay. Just a thought?

Bentley is so handsome though-- I'm sure someone out there will take him!

I guess his owners wanted to be sure he wouldn't have kittens OR spray in the house! (I was at work when I typed that. At the Cat Rescue all our cats are spayed or neutered - I've gotten used to saying both words together.)
