I am a brand new DVC member (just mailed my paperwork back today), and was wondering what discounts are available for members in the park and how doyou take advantage of them. I have a trip planned for us for Nov 07 and would like advice on if we should purchase tickets on line or wait till we get there and also should we purchase the dining plan? Thank you in advance for all of your input.

Only ticket discount currently is the AP and PAP discount. DVC members used to get discounts on length of stay tickets, but that changed several years ago. There are shopping discounts (limited), dining discounts (more of them, but some only for certain times of day) and recreational discounts (like renting boats). They change all the time.

All of the discounts are listed on the members-only website. If you didn't find your sign-in information in your paperwork, call Member Services and they should be able to give it to you over the phone.

Annual passes cost the same amount whether you buy vouchers in advance or just purchase the passes when you arrive.

The dining plan is available to members. Whether you get it or not is up to you. I believe it's $39 per adult and $11 per child, per night. You MUST buy it for every night of your stay. Many people say that it's way too much food over the course of an extended trip.

Another dining option is the Disney Dining Experience card. It is available to annual passholders and Florida residents. The DDE card has an annual fee ($60, I believe) but you then save 20% off of all purchases (alcohol included) at most Disney restaurants.

At check in they usually include a booklett that will list discounts for DVC members. That is handy to carry around with you.

We personally love the DDE card. If you like to eat at the nice restaurants and enjoy a few adult beverages, they more than pay for themselves.
