I wanted to drop a line and thank everyone for all their advice and help. We are now proud owners of OKW and VB. I was thinking that it would be nice to have one place that we could put the benefits of DVC. I am certain that once disney sends me my packet of information, I will know more, but for people who are still thinking of joining I thought this might be helpful.

From what I can tell:

Discount on A.P.
Ability to Pool Hop.

Please add to the list.

Thanks.

The complete list of current member benefits is always posted on the DVC member site. Click the Member Privileges tab on the top of the home page, then the Member Benefits & Privileges link.

We often advise prospective buyers to ignore the perks when making their decision, because not a one is guaranteed, and they change constantly. For instance, the AP discount is relatively new, and could be taken away at any time.

A monthly direct debit from my checking account for member fees.

Yeah -- it's tempting to drift off here --
The constant temptation to add more points (or does that eventually go away?)

I'm looking forward to the 10% discount at T-Rex (DGS is going to want to go there often).

OK - this is for the loan payment, but the same idea. My member fees haven't begun yet.

This is one thing I dis-like, I'd like the freedom of paying my own bills, when I have the money available. I'm a responsible adult who will pay on time.

I financed and was told the payment would come out the first of every month. Last month it posted on the 30th. I am living on a pension check that doesn't post until the last day of every month, or first day of the following month...so the money wasn't there yet.

That loan will be paid off in a few weeks anyway (after tax return), but a little flexibility would've been nice.

The ability to book a members only cruise that INCLUDES gratuities and awesome special activities/guests

I was asked what day I would like for the monthly payment, but I bought onsite at WDW. Perhaps you can call and ask for a day that works better for you.

I think you can choose between the 1st of the month and the 15th of the month.

I bought onsite is November. They didn't give me the choice.
Feb. 1st was my first payment, and already a day early!
I will be paying off the loan as soon as my tax return comes so I am really not stressing it.
Auto bill-pay is annoying to me anyway, it's something I never sign up for. Sometimes you need the 2-3 day lee-way , like waiting for payday.

Thanks so much for the info. though.

Being able to take family and friends to our home away from home over and over again, for one great time after another!

Perks for us: going to WDW every other year, watching their hotel prices constantly go up, and seeing how much money this will save us in years to come; Having a separate bedroom from the kids for privacy and so we don't have to go to bed at 9PM every night (even though on park days we sometimes want to!); Having BWV as our home resort and walking right to 2 theme parks every time we go to WDW; whirlpool in a 1BR (which we plan to get every trip) after a long day at the parks.

The other perks they have, such as discounts on dining, could change at any time. We don't expect to get those perks when we go, but it is of course a nice addition. It's really the other things I wrote above that count!
