Benefits of an AP?

Can someone explain the benefits of having an annual pass other than the obvious that it is good all year? I am thinking of buying one to get the hotel discount for our trip this summer. I called to see what the rate would be and the amount it would save is equal to the extra money I would spend on the AP over the 2 day ticket.

I would still only use the pass for 2 days but am wondering what other discounts/benefits we could get by having the annual pass.

I purchased an AP last year for the same reason, we were staying for 4 nights and the savings on the hotel more than made up for the difference in the price. The other savings, and I am seeing more this year becuase of ticket prices, is that you get a discount on other tickets you buy. You also get a discount on food and merchandise at locations throughout the park, so that saved us on food since we had a large group last year going.

Since I used my pass the first time last July, it is still good this year for June so we are heading out the end of June to see Harry Potter and staying at RPH again.

I went ahead and renewed it as well, since renewing it is a huge cost savings over the new ticket prices as well.
