Hi all -

I have a question. We are holding a benefit for Madison on December 8. She is my goddaughter that has brain cancer. I want to contact some corporations to have them donate stuff for the auction, but I do not know where to start. I am thinking of contacting Disney. Any suggestions on where I can start?

We use to do this for United Way fundraisers at work. Generally, we would approach the company with a letter explaining what we were doing and why we were requesting the donation. For corporations, I would suggest that you approach the Public Relations or Corporate Communications department and ask if they have anyone that handles these type of requests. Let them know that their will be programs printed up that will indicate which items were donated by each company. Also, there will be a card next to the item indicating that the company donated this item for auction. I would also give them someone to contact to verify the information. Most companies want to make sure that this is not a scam and that items donated are being used to raise funds for your Goddaughter. Good luck in your endeavor. I hope this helps.

Can you tell us more about the auction?

I just wanted to say hi, too. She's still in my thoughts.
