Well, doing the $$$ figures over and over with the summer room only discounts led to the unthinkable..... I've switched my 2 weeks at the Fort in August to a split stay at ASMo and POR . I will miss the Fort but we'll still be at Disney so it's all good. Planning to take a boat ride over and check out the Trading Post and see our old haunts and get a tiny Fort fix.

Hey you got to take the deals when you can get them and besides it's good to do something different every now and then. That's why we also throw in a cruise every now and then. Boy are you gonna miss the not having to drag luggage around though.

We almost did the same because Disney just wasn't giving any good AP rates for the Fort this summer. At the last minute our travel agent was able to take over our reservation and add her corporate AAA discount and it made the difference for us by knocking almost $300 off of a 3 week stay...

POR is a great resort. We stayed there in April and its now our favorite resort Be sure to ask for an Alligator Bayou room. It feels like the fort when it comes to the trees but people still look at ya wierd when ya strike up conversation

It's OK, we know you will come back. They all do. LOL. Our last trip we stayed at WL. We had a bunch of travel credits we had to use up. Now we are headed back to the fort.

Gillenkl: lol! Benedict Arnold! I just knew what you meant before I even opened your post!
Good thing Bama Ed is willing to vouch for you at the DCDC -- others might not be so forgiving! lol!

I did wonder a couple times if it was silly of me to attempt this given that for a few dollars more I'd stay at a value resort or even offsite, but .....I'm committed to the cause! (nothing more fanatical than a new convert!).

I'll be flying down solo to stay at The Fort for almost a week in Oct (nonshameless plug: Pre-Trippie link below!).

Having said that, POR is awesome! And there will be airconditioning, fresh towels, and towel service at the pool.

We are kind of doing the same thing... We are going to do a split stay too.
We are staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins for 7 nights from July 23rd to July 30th. Then we will move to Disney's Caribbean beach resort from July 30th to August 8th.

We feel like we are going to miss staying at the fort but just thought it would be nice to try out Caribbean beach, as we have never stayed there..
I even hate doing split stay, but since we are going to be staying a long time at each resort, we thought it wouldn't be too bad.
But we hope to come back to the Fort in November and December.
Hope you enjoy your stay at POR, we loved it when we stayed there.

It is ok.
We all stray now and then for whatever reason.............
BUT,
We always go back home.
