Being a perfusionist means staying certifired. In order to do that we need to report a certain number of CEU's every three years. My reporting year is coming up and I was short a few CEU's. Wouldn't you know it, there's a conference in ORLANDO! Not only is it in Orlando, it's 1.5 miles from WDW! How could I say no? I needed the CEU's and my employer paid for most of the trip! It was off to Orlando for my DH and I. The trip was 5/13 to 5/17.

There were many lessons learned and new experiences on this trip. First lesson learned: I need more Mickey. Once a year isn't enough. This May trip fell in between our Oct 03 trip and upcoming Dec 04 trip. I feel much better now.

I booked the trip through Expedia.com without any problems. Flight, hotel, and car all together. I bought Disney conference tickets through the Disney website. They were perfect! 5 day hoppers with 5 admission to DQ or PI. We didn't need water park tickets and didn't have the money to get our PAP on this trip (besides, we'll get more use out of it if we buy them this Dec).

We flow to MCO on AirTran and my DH was skeptical until we upgraded to thier business class - for $35 each! It was the only way to fly! My DH is 6'7" and 300#, he doesn't fit well on standard airplane seats. Here we were in the business class with a bulkhead row to boot! The seats were more comfortable, the snacks were better, it was great. We will always fly AirTran business class when it's available!

The conference was at the Caribe Royale Resort so we dicided to stay there. I can't imagine waking up and driving *away* from WDW to go to a conference. It was much easier to get up, go to the conference, and then go to WDW. It was like a wonderful dessert after a bad meal!

All-in-all we liked the hotel. It was convenient to WDW, clean, nice rooms and amenities, and a good price. But it was off-site. I like staying on-site, there is just something so magical about it. I think one big on-site trip and then one smaller off-site trip is a good mix. We also liked having a car. We weren't slaves of the bus system and we were more interested in seeing other WDW resorts because we could just drive right there. If you're going to rent a car for WDW - get a convertible! It was just DH and I so we fit everything in the convertible just fine. If we were in the car, the top was down! Only once did it threaten to rain and we drove with the top up.

Whew! There's the into. Just the facts on how we got there and where we stayed. For my next installment, I'll talk about our new WDW experiences!
