What is the lowdown on Beirgarten? When is the entertainment? What is it really like?

Thanks
Brandi

We went last March for the first time and enjoyed it. It was a last minute choice and we had no idea what to expect.

We had dinner, which is a buffet. There was really good chicken, sausages, potatoes, scnitzel and other stuff. Lots of choices, including salad. I liked the apple strudel for dessert.

When you walk in the restaurant, there is seating on a few levels and in the back it looks like a street scene with brownstone-looking buildings as they would appear in Germany. There is a stage where musicians play. One part of the act is people ringing bells. The German band also plays these long horns, I can't remember their name. There is singing and they encourage the crowd to sing along too.

My husband definitely wants to do it again because he liked it so much. I would go back as well, but there are also other places we haven't tried yet that I want to get to.

Give it a try - it was fun and different.

The entertainment is several times a day. Off hand, I don't know the exact times. 2:15 was the time we saw the show when we dined there last.

It is one of the most affordable buffets at WDW. The food is good. There is something there for everyone. The pretzle rolls are good. The chicken snitzle with hunter gravy is my favorite! The dessert I like the best is some type of strawberry fluff wrapped in a cake roll.

I loved the atmosphere. The food was OK. You pretty much sit at a table with other people. My husband didn't like it as well as I did. We are going again this time. ;)

We've eaten there on our last 4 trips and enjoyed it everytime.

The plusses:
cheap as far as WDW buffets go
fun show, lively german octoberfest music. A lot of kids get up and dance.
good selection of normal food, something for everyone
fun atmopshere

the downside:
shows are only at certain times per day
if you have exciting eating habits and like gourmet, it's not for you
you will most likely have to sit with other people at long tables
a little on the dark side

We are visiting this restaurant again (for about our 20th time) next Thursday evening. This is on our DNM (do not miss) list. Food is good and entertainment is great. Nothing like drinking Beer in a German Beer Hall...LOL

If you like Beer and brats, then this is not to be missed. DW, DD (3) and I went last November and loved it. DD went out and danced with the other kids to the german polka band and had a blast. This is one that we try to hit every time we go down there.

we thought the food was very good( just like mama used to make if she was German, try the raspberry florentine cookies yum:)) and the atmosphere fun...i think i would rather go with a larger group since you seat at community tables and i am not good with small talk ( husband normally is except when he is eating) so it was a little uncomfortable but not enough to make me not want ot go.

the shows are on a set schedule( like 15 past the hr or something similar, pretty sure it is on www.allearsnet.com) so we just got a seating a little past that time (for lunch off season)

The shows are kind of random times, but they tend to be the same time every day. Check Steve Soares' site for specific times (sorry, I'm not sure of that address).

We are trying the Biergarten for the first time next month, largely based on the comments and reviews I have seen on this site. It will be me, DH, DD19 (not too picky), DS16 (a little picky, but if he likes it he will eat it in mass quantities), and DS9 twins (one picky, one not). I thought the menu looked diverse enough to let us try something new, but have something "tried and true" that everyone will eat as well.

Love it. A wide array of German food. Their salad with yogurt herb dressing is outstanding as is their chicken snitzle with hunter gravy (and many other dishes). I haven't tried anything there I haven't liked.

And if you like beer, try their German Beerflight. It's a taster of their 4 or 5 types of beers. Good stuff!

The entertainment is fun and the atmosphere is very cool. I highly recommend Biergarten.
