Let me start by first apologizing ... I know this has been mentioned a ton of times before, but I just can't seem to find the answer ...

I know that to "officially book" the WP for an Escape, I need to call 8 months prior to my preffered date.

But I've heard DIS brides talk about being "pencilled-in" before that. What is the timeframe for requesting to be "pencilled-in"?

After previously having to postpone our DFTW for over a year (:scared1:), I want to make sure I get all of my ducks in a row as soon as I can!

TIA for any help!

we got pencilied in for our wishes wedding at around 18 months when we got a sales conordinator but couldnt do anything till 12 months

I knwo the wedding pavilion is 8 months, but sea breeze point you can book at 12 months... I'm not sure about the others though? ..If that helps any?

i booked the pavilion at 12 months but it was a wishes wedding so maybe different sorry

When we tried to call before the 8 month mark for the WP they told us repeatedly that you can't be pencilled in at all and you can call at 8 months from the date which we did at 8:00AM when they opened to be sure we got our date! I don't think they are super strict on being exactly at 8 months because we called 8/17 for our 4/17 wedding. Hope that helps. Good Luck!:cutie:

I phoned twice to try and be pencilled in and they were not having any of it, They told me that they would pencil it in that I would be calling on that day (the 8 month mark) to book the wedding but that is as far as any pencilling went!!!

Thanks so much for the replies orangetiggs, meelee514, acurry417, and babystar! I really appreciate it!

Guess I'm just gonna have to sit tight until the 8 month mark :rolleyes1

pixiedust: to all!

i didnt need to call at our 12 month mark, i got a call saying it was all booked

Good evening..

I called on 12.26.07 and got booked/penciled for 12.06.08 --- we sign the contract at the 8 month mark but we have our date!!!!

This is for a custom/wishes wedding @ the Wedding Pavilion though -- not sure about other places though..

Good luck! :cool1:

I've just queried this with Disney and they've told me they don't know how it is with Wishes (from my experience they do "pencil in" at 18 months) but with Escape you cannot be pencilled in. The will book at 12 months out for outdoor locations and 8 months for the WP.

Thanks Sleeping_Princess and meryll83! :goodvibes

Seems like I'm just gonna have to wait ... :hourglass

i received an email from Disney yesterday to say for a wishes wedding they will pencil me in 18 months in advance... which means i get to speak to someone this year rather than next year which i am very excited about :cool1:
Think it is only 8 months for WP on escape package though.

:confused3 We have SBP for January 22, 2009 at noon. Doreen assured me that we definitely have this spot, but said that they can't yet do a LoA because they don't know 2009 prices? She also said they won't take a deposit until we do a LoA?!?

I trust DFTW, but I must admit that I am worried about this.

Have any other Escape brides been able to sign a LoA for 2009? :confused3

Does this mean that Wishes brides that get pencilled in at 18 months, has priority over an Escape bride who phones to get the same location bang on the 12 month booking mark?

Wishes brides DO get priority over Escape brides (bigger expenditures means more money for Disney). It's the reason that Wishes brides can book the WP at 12 months, but Escape brides have to wait 'til the 8 month mark.

However, being "pencilled in" means just that, nothing is set in stone. If there are competing requests for the same day/time/location, DFTW does a "lottery". That's why it helps a little if you can be flexible on at least one of the criteria (i.e. you want the location but can be flexible on the date/time, or you want the date but can be flexible on the location/time, etc.)

She told me the same thing and it's beginning to make me nervous.

Just wanted to add that the Wishes brides that get penciled in at the 12 month mark for the WP, but aren't confirmed until the 8 month mark is because of their reception location. A few of the reception locations can not be booked until 8 months out.
