I truly believe the best thing in the world is being a grandma. I am so fortunate to babysit with our little Addison this weekend and she and I are having a girl party. Addy is 22 months old and she is our first and only grandchild so far. We went shopping twice today and and she was the big winner of those trips. We looked at old Disney magazines because we are teaching her who Mickey Mouse is since she will be meeting him in a few weeks. She is now sleeping and I have an aching back, but I couldn't be any happier. Aren't grandchildren THE best? How precious.

I love my grandbabies...I was blessed with two this year. Little guy is 7 months and the princess is 4 months. I don't get to keep them as much as I would like to because somehow I have to share them with their other grandparents! I thought I loved my children a great deal but this was definitely unexpected. Everytime I look at them I see my children all over again as babies.

Kelly, its kind of funny cuz I actually think DD is a better parent than I was. BUT, I was 20 when she was born and she was 25 with Addy. What a difference 5 years make in maturity.

I've joked that the reason that I had children is so that I would have grandchildren. :rotfl: I have 4 children, so all my grandchildren eggs are not in one basket, but I think that it will be such a wonderful thing, especially if they live near me. I was shopping at Sam's Club yesterday and I heard a little girl making loud, happy noises. When I eventually crossed paths with her I commented (with a smile on my face) about her being the one making all the noise. Turns out she (about 1 1/2yo) was shopping with her grandma and we had the nicest chat about grandchildren. The little girl is obviously the apple of her grandma's eye and it's such a special love. Hopefully I'll have that one day.

Enjoy your grandchildren!

T&B, I believe its God's reward to us for not screwing up our own kids...much.;)

Or our reward for living through their teen years. :teeth:

I do think the same in my situation. I was 19 and 20 when my son and daughter were born. Must be why I am such a young looking grandma.. :rotfl2: Just the other day my daughter was here with TJ. He has started to stand up around the furniture if he can and at least try to stand, I was practically running behind him. DD was so nonchalant, he'll be o.k. mom, let him be etc etc. She is 24 so yes, I think it does make a difference. I was alot different when they were babies!

Kim, I still cannot believe we live so stinkin' close. We need to meet up at Coral Ridge sometime! Now, as far as your teens, God be with you. :thumbsup2

I don't have grandchildren yet (& better not for a long time!) but I love my nieces & nephews to pieces!

My DD's are teens now & it's so much fun to relive the infant, toddler & preschool years with them.

I am not one yet... but my MIL is the bestest ever! She is a fine mix of Grandmother but not over stepping... she is perfect! She loves to babysit at the childs house, where all their things are. She drive 40 mins to each house. One day a week she is with one family. That gives the parents time to do what the want or need to do. She handles everything while we are gone. She does only what the parents allow as far as eating/sleeping and such. She shows so much respect for the individual family style. I learned from her what type of GM I will be :) We are soo blessed!

I agree, there is nothing better than a grandchild. I am so glad that I had my children young, I was 22 when my oldest was born, I am able to do so much more with Nicky than my mother could with my boys. I take him on bikerides with me every day. My mother could hardly push the carriage around the block without becomming winded.
My grandson stays over my house at least 3 nights a week and I watch him 3-4 days a week when mom and dad are at work.
He is 13 months now. He already knows Mickey and the gang, and loves the Disney Channel. Grandma started him early.
I took him to meet Mickey in August when he was 11 months old and can't wait for our next trip.
And contrary to what his mother and father believe, I am not spoiling him, Fruit spoils, children don't spoil, they can only be loved. And I love him ALOT!!! Peggie

You are very blessed indeed. I drive 2 hours 20 minutes to get to my Punky girl, but it is sooo worth it. I see from looking at your link that you went to a MVMCP. Isn't that just the best? Our entire family, including Addy, will be going to our second MVMCP November 27. I cannot wait!! Oh how I love the snow on Main Street!

Sounds like fun going to Coral Ridge....although I'm still upset The Disney Store left. I used to work there and at the Davenport Disney Store.

God is going to have to be with me, I'm already so tired of the "eye roll" I could puke!!

I was ticked off at DD during her junior and senior years in high school...BIG TIME. We are the BEST of friends today. Keep the faith.

Yes, being a grandparent is the best. I have been blessed with 3 in less than 2 years, my pride and joy Liliana 21 months, her little brother Dominik 4 months and the newest member of the group, Isabella 7 weeks old.

I became a grandma in July so my little one is almost 4 months old.. I think being a granma puts a whole new prospect on life..

I am looking forward to our family trip in 2008 to DisneyWorld when she will get to go for the first time..

It really IS wonderful!! I've had 2 grandchildren born in the last year. My grandson will be a year old in another 10 days and my grandaughter is 8 1/2 months. I am loving being a grammie!

I'm sure being a grandma is great, but being the parent who takes home the grandchild AFTER they've been spoiled....whew! :)
