Is it worth the money? Is it Exciting or 7 and 12 yrs? Any advice? I there a better time of day to go?

We went on the tour on our last trip with our 9 and 7 year old. My 9 year old loves science and really had a great time on the tour. My 7 year old thought parts of it were fun, but it did get a little long and hot at the end. I would suggest going earlier in the day rather than later due to the heat factor.

Two years ago we went on The Land ride and both of my boys then 6 and 10 loved it. We were all disapointed when we could not do the tour because of our schedule. This year when we went we were all excited and could not wait to do the tour. They were 8 and 12. It started out okay and the boys were interested. But we went in August after lunch. It was HOT!!!! And an hour(about) tour just did not hold the interest of my boys. They soooooo wanted to see the mickey pumpkins and tomatos but, by the time we got to them they were BORED. My youngest loves helping in the garden and so looked forward to this tour. Maybe we just built it up to much.

It's not the least bit exciting. But it is very interesting if you and your family is interested in plants and animals. You get to see some very interesting plants being grown in very interesting ways. And the growing and harvesting of some fish and other sea animals is also interesting.

I just went on the tour on our Sept trip, and I loved it. However, I'm an adult who is really into science...esp. plants and how they grow. There was a LOT of interesting information.

I'm glad that I didn't take my girls (almost 7 and 4). I don't think they would have enjoyed it overall. There were fun PARTS for the kids (we got to taste some cucumbers grown in the greenhouses, feed the tilapia, release ladybugs at the end), but overall....our one hour tour turned into a 1.5 hour tour (we had a mister-know-it-all in the group who just WOULDN'T stop talking, and 4 people in electric wheelchairs, which took some extra time getting around). It would have been too much....especially the last part of the tour, which is in the main greenhouse and VERY hot! There weren't many places to sit, you weren't supposed to touch the plants, etc etc.

So, YES, I think the tour is totally worth the cost, but NO, after having done it, I wouldn't take kids that age unless they were super interested in the material. Only you know your children, though!!

I did the tour several years ago, and as a Biology major found it fascinating. But I'm not sure the whole thing would hold the interest of a 7 year especially, unless they are really into that type of stuff. It's definitely worth the money for adults though!

My 12 year old son and I went on the tour last year around Christmas and it was interesting. He couldn't wait to try the "exotic" fruit, at the end of the tour. However, our exotic fruit was a cucumber! A tasty cucumber...but a cucumber nevertheless. He was quite disappointed! :lmao:
If you enjoy learning about how plants grow and the inventive ways that Disney grows food then you may enjoy it. I think you feed the fish and set ladybugs free along the way too. I got a discount because I used my Disney Visa to purchase the tour. There is also a coupon in the back of Birbaum's Disney guidebook as well.

With all the rides and excitement surrounding them at Disney, I don't think my kids would be thrilled to sit through a tour like this at all! If your kids are super interested in plants, farming, etc they may enjoy it. Otherwise, there is plenty to do without spending the extra money.
