My dd6 loves the living with the land ride and I have been wanting to take her on this tour since we went in July. I also wouldn't mind doing myself. I just have a couple of questions.

1.} Is it still there? ( they change things so fast you never know)
2.} Will she enjoy it or will she be bored?
3.} Has anyone done it and how long did last? (I beleive it is 15min but I just want to make sure.

Anyone that has done the tour or any info please post thanks.

My DS and I went, think it runs closer to 20-25 minutes. Might be a little dull for a 6 yo, but if she really likes the ride, sounds like she might be more mature. You get to walk through all the back area when the produce are growing, and we saw the fish tanks where they use the red lighting to grow on the fish farms. We found it very cool, and would do it again. Think we even saw the molds they grow the mickey shaped pumpkins in.

If she's interested in the ride, then she probably will enjoy the tour. They do a couple of interactive things, so that will probably keep her entertained.

We did this last year. Our tour was around 40 mins because we had someone in the tour group that was also growing things using hydroponics. We actually learned alot more because of his questions. My kids were 13,10,7. They enjoyed it. They released ladybugs, tasted cucumbers and my DS got to feed the hybrid Bass. It was a cool experience.

We did the tour in January and ours was almost an hour in length, I think they told us it would be 30-40 minutes when we signed up. There is some interactive stuff, we looked at bugs through a magnifying glass, ate some of the veggies they grow there, released ladybugs... but mostly it was a lot of standing still and listening to the CM. There were no kids in our group - all adults. If you know your DD will be patient enough to stand around then I think she'd definitely like it! It's very similar to the ride, just more in-depth!

I was thinking of taking this tour on my next trip, too. One other question - are you allowed to bring a camera along on the tour and take pictures?

Thanks!

we did this last year - DD(then 8) liked it so much, we based her science project on hydroponics(we have a hydroponics shop locally)!!!! It was closer to 45 mins to an hour - but we also had someone in our group that did hydroponics themselves....so there was maybe more in depth discussion....a good thing!!!! Our guide also took her time and it was nice that it was not rushed. I really love this tour (we had done it in early 90's - and we loved finally sharing it with our DD!!!! To us it is well worth the expense (minimal) and the time!!!!

you can definitely take photos - we have a ton!!!! :sunny:

I just registered for the Behind the Seeds tour for myself and DS9. We are going Easter week. I found out tour prices are going up as of Janl 1. It will be $14.00 for adult (instead of $12).

All the tours are great (have taken 10 so far) and this one is no exception. :thumbsup2

We did this tour in October with our two daughters ages 12 and 19. It took us a little over an hour (I think because our group had lots of questions). My kids got to release ladybugs as well and were given a certificate for a "Magical Moment" with their name on it. Really interesting tour that went very fast. :thumbsup2

We have done it 4 times and it lasted between 45 minutes to a hour.It is guided by a college intern working at WDW.At least on the times we went it is limited to around 12 folks so you will want to sign up early. If you are a DVC member you get a discount.I do not know if other discounts are avalible. It is a interesting and wonderful behind the scences tour. :thumbsup2 :wizard:

My 9 year old daughter and I did this in September and it was very dull for her. She enjoyed seeing some of the bugs that eat other bugs and she enjoyed the Mickey shaped veggies being grown but that was about it. Our tour did not have a ladybug release included. I should mention that my daughter is pretty academically inclined and generally enjoyed museums, etc. She also likes growing things.

There are some discounts available. Here is a link that lists discounts for the tours: www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-specialtours.html

We did it in August and both my kids liked it a lot. I have a 14 yr old and a at the time newly 8 yr old. There is plenty for kids to look at and be interested in. You were always seeing something or having something explained so hard to be bored.I think it was around 45 minutes but we had a small group so not much time wasted waiting for everyone to get to the next spot etc. I'm glad we did it. My DD is the one who suggested it, she had wanted to do it last trip but they weren't doing them for some reason while we were there.
