Before or After Christmas Sales?

I live an hour away from the nearest town of any size, and I have some time off both before and after Christmas.

I'm wondering....are the sales better right before (next week) or the Monday after Christmas? I've been living overseas for the last 5 years so I honestly don't know.

But if you could only go shopping one day....like the Wed before Christmas or the Monday after, which day would you go?

(I will totally be on the internet both before and after but I do like to go touch, try on, compare in person)

Definately the Monday after. But if you wait until January stuff will be even cheaper.

I think it might depend on what you're looking to buy?

This year seems wierd in the retail world. I've noted Christmas stuff is already on clearance in some places. And stocks of things are down, I imagine this will limit clearance sales after Christmas...

I think if u want christmas stuff, like tree, ornaments, paper etc. then perhaps right b4 or it will e gone by that Monday unless u go the day after x-mas! For winter cloths etc i'd say Monday or later....just less and less selection as time goes by, BUT cheaper cheaper prices! I find after New Years to get the best prices on winter cloths for my family...

I have seen the same thing. The other night we went to Target. I needed more gift tags. We were shocked how small the Christmas section has become. We were there the week before. I am not sure how much will be left after Christmas. I also noticed the toy section was picked over too.

Alot of retailers have really cut back on the amount of merchandise they stocked this year because they don't want to get stuck with alot of stuff to mark down.

Clothing is always cheaper after Christmas. First, many retailers are trying to get rid of winter inventory and they are trying to get rid of extra stuff that didn't sell over the holidays.

I did read a report from consumer reports that the best time of year to buy a new TV is right before the super bowl. I guess sports nuts are out there trying to get the big screen and prices are really discounted.
