I know I have read somewhere about Universal having some sort of "beerfest", that takes place at Citywalk around the lake. Does anyone know anything about this? I need to know when it is.....

thanks!

It's a big beer drinking event that occurs in the fall. I think it has a lot of beer samples to taste, but I wouldn't try drinking them all at once. :)

Lush Club president here to fill you in! :D

Yes, they have Beerfest at CityWalk...in fact, they just had it in October, I believe...I don't have the exact dates at my fingertips and it's a bit of a blur now...I think the 20th and 21st.

They sold tickets in advance for about $20 and the day of the event they were $25 or so...it was a great deal and a lot of fun! Very crowded at night...but during the afternoon/early evening, it was easy to get your samples without too much of a wait. I know they had about 150 different beers from various breweries there, so lots of variety! They also had very reasonably priced food "samples" ("a taste of CityWalk") available - like the mini cheeseburger in paradise (which was a GREAT deal at $2!)

All in all....lots of fun, and a good value! The only downfall is it won't happen again for another 9 or 10 months!

Thank you soooooooooooo much. I really wanted to surprise my husband with this trip this year, and now I have plenty of time to plan it!

Thank you!!!!

There was one this past Nov. We messed up. We should have went during the afternoon, but went after IOA closed around 6. Talk about packed. The lines were about 20 or so long, they were running out of a lot beer. They gave you I believe a 6 oz. glass that they only filled up to 2 oz. For us it was a waste. We wound up getting two samples, then took off. It would have probably been more fun to start earlier when you could walk around, it was just way too many people crashing into each other. It may have cleared out later, but not sure.

No...it didn't clear out later...and it was definitely a mob scene later in the night!

I got there at the opening bell at 2pm (big surprise there, eh?) and got some samples and hit IOA until they closed...I stayed over on the Hard Rock side for a while, it stayed pretty manageable over there for longer... :D

I wouldn't have minded it(the crowds) as much, but I had my kids with me...next year I'm getting a sitter!

Barry...sampling them all was the fun of it! ;) heehee

Nothing like crawling, er... stumbling to your HRH room from Enchanted Oak Tavern. Good thing Margaritaville has a "to go" window.
HAVE FUN

That's my strategy. Start walking around early. Start falling down early. Stumble into the canal by six. Avoid the crowds.

"It would have been nice to start earlier", maybe I should have said check it out earlier when there are no crowds to deal with. Wasn't saying so I could get my fill and fall in the canal. More power to the people who did though, It looked like they had a good time.
I doubt we would have stayed more than an hour, but it would have been nice to be able to walk around and check things out without being trampled. At 6 it was a zoo, and took forever just to walk though it, let alone sample something. We usually walk around the wine and food event at epcot, and I don't remember it ever being as crowded.
Kelly, Not sure if it was tongue in cheek or not, but It wasn't my stategy to fall down early OR late. Crowds don't normally bother me, drunken ones stumbling into me and my family do though.

We were also there early... we arrived at 12 noon, already had our passes (we got a "will call" before we left home via telephone) and went over to Margaritaville for munchies and drinks. We had about a half hour to kill before the "fest" was to begin... the lines were LONG by then, just to get your beer passes, so I am glad we bought them ahead of time! We DEFINETLY got our moneys worth... no beer shortage or long lines during afternoon.... but by nighttime.... we were done and busy partying elsewhere!! Thank goodness, because it was packed with long lines and plenty of "out of beer" signs by 9 or 10 pm. Are we going next year... and the years to come??? HELL YEAH!! :D

Peterd: I was just kidding.

And I don't think you need to worry about drunken crowds at CityWalk or in either of the parks. In fact, I have been impressed by the total absence of rowdy behavior, even when CW is really jumpin', in spite of the fact that alcohol is readily available. I suspect that both servers and security people do an excellent job of monitoring any potential troublemakers.
