Now when you can say that you like everything about a country but its beer, that is a very high compliment indeed. That is how I feel about the wonderful US of A.

Seeking out potable ale has been a constant challenge on 9 previous trips. British bars have sprung up but, in my experience over the years, it has become more and more difficult to get UK ales which are not watered. Sadly, I include the Rose and Crown in that category.

I am not looking for anything other than a decent draught pint or two.....I have drunk Heineken bottles in my last half dozen trips...very nice but would prefer unwatered draught UK beer.

Does anyone know any outlet selling unwatered Uk beer?

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the Boddington's at The Rose and Crown in March, AMF.

When in Rome....etc

If you are a Bitter fan - Try Samuel Adams Boston Ale.

There is an establishment on the Boardwalk that brews it's own beer on the premises.

It's called The Big River Grille and Brewing Works and the food isn't too bad either.

I had the 'Beer Sampler', which consisted of small glasses (4oz) of 5 beers that they brew on the premises:

One was a traditional American gnats pee beer, cold, tasteless, weak and fizzy - yuk!
One was a 'German Pilsner' - not too bad.
One was a 'Pale Ale' - a bit 'hoppy' but drinkable.
One was called 'Rocket Red Ale', this was quite nice - if a bit bitter.
The last one was almost a brown ale and was very nice.

I think they have alot more beers on offer too.

In 1989 I went t a British Pub in Kissimemme (Spelt wrong!) And they had Stones Which I was conviced was Bud! And on Draught they had Newcastle Brown Ale which I thought was dodgy as its a famous bottled beer!!

Thanks guys:)

I should perhaps indicated that the last time we were in Orlando was Dec 96. In all my trips to Orlando (at least once a year from 1990) the Rose and Crown had always sold Bass. The last time we were there it had followed the watering trend:( Thanks for the tip about the boddies....I'll give it a try:)

I seem to recall trying the Boston Ale and thinking it was quite drinkable:) I'll certainly be happy to give it another bash when I come across it:)

We've never visited the Boardwalk but it sounds like the Big River G & BW might be worth a visit...thanks:)

I've had draught Newcastle in Orlando/Kissimmee (think the Cricketers Arms in the Mercado on ID sold it). Like you Ian I wasn't too sure.

Thanks again.

..at home I prefer Black Sheep, Theakstons, Dent Brewery etc... in the States I drink wine! 'Nuff said?

Found this on the Mouseplanet restaurant guide - I've tried most of them in the past I think, including the Irish Red Lager last year which was surprisingly good (from what I remember - I may have had more than one :D)

Paul

Southern Flyer Light Lager
The lightest beer in color and body in our line up. Southern flyer Light Lager is a refreshing beer and a true American lager. Liberty hops add to its all-around great taste.

Gadzooks Pilsner
This German style Pilsner is fermented with a classic German lager yeast. Although light in color, it is a medium bodied beer. German Hallertauer Tradition hops provide a subtle and unique hops aroma.

Tilt Pale Ale
Light in color yet possessing a full-bodied flavor. Tilt Pale Ale is traditional pale ale with a unique addition of American Perle hops which impart a truly smooth and flavorful finish.

Seasonal Sweet Magnolia Brown Ale
Brown in color with a medium body, Sweet Magnolia has a floral hop aroma created by Mt. Hood hops. A sweet, malty flavor is rendered by Crystal and Chocolate malts from the United Kingdom. Sweet Magnolia Brown won a gold medal in the 1998 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.

Summer Seasonal Wowzer's Wheat
This refreshing light wheat beer is brewed with equal parts of malted wheat and malted barley giving Wowzer's a slight tartness. Wowzer's is fermented with a traditional Bavarian yeast to impact clove and banana notes.

Rocket Red Ale
A robust red ale that combines a rich, deep, malty flavor from our British Crystal malt. A classic citrus-like flavor comes from the large dose of Cascade hops.

Seasonal Ales & Lagers
Celebrate the season with special ales and lagers brewed according to traditional recipes by the head brewer. Ask your server about the availability of special recipes including Irish Red Lager each spring, Summer Wheat and Firecracker Ale for summer, and Oktoberfest and Winter Porter for fall and winter.

We have now found a beer that we can drink with much pleasure and it is called Amber Bock, most supermarkets sell it in bottles but it is also sold on draft at some of the resturants inc outback steakhouse. It did take about 10 trips before we found this beer which is like a dark bitter but always have a few in the fridge from day 1

Thanks again guys.....I'm sure that a few of your interesting suggestions will wend their way down my neck;)
