My DH wants to know if you can take a cooler with canned beer to the beach and pool areas at HH........if not, are sodas/water bottles allowed ????

Good question. Unfortunately, I don't know. In my opinion, the soda/water would not be a problem on the beach. Not sure about a cooler at the pool though since they sell these items on property. But I've never heard an official rule about this. Anybody else know?

I can't remember a policy at the resort for the pool, but the beach does have signs posted prohibiting alcoholic beverages and glass containers.

Hope this helps!

Years ago you could take beer to the beach between Labor Day and Memorial Day (in other words NOT during the summer!) I have taken beer and just "hid" it in a cover. (Yes, I broke the law!) I never got questioned.

Hmmm...good question. Not sure about any HH/SC specific laws. I do know that they allow you to bring a cooler with alcohol to the pool at SSR. We called to inquire about this...and they said as long as we were at the tables/lounge chairs (rather than right next to the pool) that it would be fine.

(You can't bring alcohol to the water parks though). :D

Good info here. It's about time we talk about the more important subjects.
I guess I'll bring a real long hose on my visit to HH next April.

By the way, how far is it from the 2br's to the beach? :teeth:

We've brought cans of beer in a cooler to the pools many times. We've even been known to pour a bottle of beer into a plastic cup in the villa and bring THAT down to the pool.

Just remember that the resort cannot sell any type of alcohol (whether in cans from the Mercantile, or by the drink from the Sand Bar at the beach house) on Sundays!

It's about 1.25 miles from the resort to the beach house. You can drive and there is usually plenty of parking. You can also walk or bike there. The resort has shuttle service on request.
We will be going in April also. Hope the bar at the beach house will be open.

Actually, I was just wondering how long of a hose to bring... :teeth:

No Beer is allowed on the beaches at Hilton Head. I am a resident here. You can purchase beer at the hotels and drink it there, but no alcoholic beverages are allowed on the beach.

Can you have a drink at a restaurant on Sunday at Hilton Head? Can you purchase beer on Sunday?

You can have a drink at a restaurant in Hilton Head on Sunday. I think you can purchase beer and wine at grocery stores on Sunday, but not sure about liquor stores being open. (We live in GA, where you cannot purchase any type of "package" alcohol on Sunday, so we're just used to making sure we don't need to get any, LOL!)

Another little tidbit about alcohol in Hilton Head. If you order a mixed drink at a restaurant, they have to use those little individual "airline" bottles of liquor. (Even at the Sand Bar at the beach house pool.) If you order a drink that requires more than one type of liquor, you may actually end up paying for two drinks, because they have to account for two bottles!

Now, don't ask me how I have come to know these little tidbits of information.

You can get drinks in a restaurant on Sunday and purchase in grocery stores, but Liquor stores are closed. And Yes all drinks are made useing mini bottles, which makes drinking much more exspensive.

Besides the the 6600ft of hose to get from the resort to the beach you probably would need to place at least 3 or 4 in line pumps every 1000 ft or so to relay the beer. I can figure out the hydraulic calculation but I have no idea how to rectify the problem of excess foam.....
