We are planning a small dessert party at UK Pubside (thanks to Lurkyloo for the tip) in conjunction with our son’s wedding (Sunrise Terrace) and as we’re reviewing the dessert party contract, see that if we wanted wine or beer, we would need to pay an extra $100 for a bartender, which is logical, but unrealistic for a party of 8. The question is, how feasible is it to walk around the corner to the Rose and Crown/UK and just buy a beer or wine and take it back into UK Pubside?

A second logistics question, is it feasible to buy and make up some take home “party bags” ahead of time including stuff like bags of items from Karamell Kuche (caramel corn, chocolates, etc) to give attendees rather than having those on the dessert list taking up dollars?

i don't think you can wander out and get drinks and wander back? i can't see that happening. i would say you can do a gift, i think you are saying a small gift of caramel corn or something (i am assuming prepackaged from the candy shop v. homemade or something) but i know there are limits about what you can and can't bring into a park location. on the one hand, yes, the bartender has a charge, but in the grand scheme of things a) you are already having a dessert party for "only" 8 people and you b) you have minimums to meet? i can't swear that, if i were a guest and no alcohol were offered, i might not try to wander over to buy myself a glass of wine, but i cannot picture any way that that would be overlooked by the team helping you that night or "bringing in" snacks! :)

I agree it does seem a bit steep to pay $100 for someone serve drinks to eight people.
However, unless it is truly a budget buster, I say go for it! You don't have to worry about "wandering out" for a drink, your guests will have virtually no waiting, and it will be a luxurious and cool thing to do. Weddings are the perfect place to go for these slurge items. Enjoy.
