I am searching for a vacation. DH doesn't want to do WDW again this year. He wants to go on a driving vacation. IMO, that's not a "real" vacation. I'm willing to pay for vacation, but I found a deal that I just can't stop thinking about....
In December 1992, we stayed at Hotel on the Cay in Cristiansted. This is the hotel that is on the island in the marina. It wasn't 5 star, but it was on the nicer end of beach hotels.
Well, much to my surprise, we can go for a week in July and stay there for only $702 for the four of us. We have FF miles to go anywhere in the world for free, so this would be an ultra cheap vacation. I know that St. Croix isn't one of the most expensive of the Caribbean islands, and there is enough for us to do and for us to keep the kiddos entertained for the week.
Here's the thing, though... does anyone know if this is still a good place to stay? I'd hate to go and be disappointed. Orbitz says its a 3 star. I'd say that 11 years ago it was a 3 to 3.5 star hotel.
Should we pick this, or should I keep looking? (Actually, if he'd go for it, I'd pick Hawaii or London, but he doesn't want to be on a plane for that long.)
