I've heard good and bad with the food there, I went years ago and it wasn't bad, anyone been recently? What did you think?

With it being a buffet and all, can my older kids get stuff off the little kid side if they want? We are on the DDP, but my teenager loves chicken nuggets, yuk to me, but hey what can I say... she'll eat other stuff too, but if she sees them she may want them!

We went the end of Oct for dinner and we did not like it at all. The prime rib and mashed potatoes were the only thing good on the entire buffet. Even the kids did not like the food from the kids table. Our reservations were at 5:30 so you would think the food would have been fresh and plentiful...but no

I would like to try breakfast

I'm really wondering about the consistency of Chef Mickey's...We went in October for dinner and I was a little nervous due to reading some negative feedback about it...I was truly pleasantly surprised! I thought it was really good. The food was hot, fresh and plentiful. I thought there was a decent selection. The salad selection was good...salad is salad, and as far as the kids go, the chicken fingers were really good! The pizza for kids is your standard Disney buffet pizza. The vegetables were fresh and seasoned fine and as far as the mashed potatoes, they really are great. The dessert selection was plentiful, although we stuck to the sundae bar with soft serve ice cream. Again, you can't go wrong with that. Everyone's tastes are different, but we truly thought it was good. The character interaction was great and it was a fun atmosphere. Our service was very good as well. Our drinks were always replenished without asking and the plates were cleared away immediately. We love character breakfasts, but were wanting to shake things up a bit since we've done a lot of them. We just felt like we hit it right and it worked for us. We will try to go again on our next upcoming trip....
Like I said, everyone's expectations and experiences are different, but I would say give it a try.

We had a late breakfast there, and it was great. The food was good the character interaction was great. Mickey actually sat on the floor with my DD. I wouldn't see why an older kid couldn't eat off the kids part of the buffet, I did it for myself at every buffet we went to! :rotfl:

We have been for breakfast many times and it remains our favorite. We tried it for dinner for the first time last month and were pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the salad bar, prime rib, potatoes, raviolis, penne cabonara (special of the day), and even the kids pizza. I was so full from dinner I didnt even go for the icecream dessert.
We plan to go back again in July.

We went in August and other than enjoying the Monorail going through the Contemporary we didn't enjoy our meal at all. The food was pretty bad for our taste and the Characters were rushed. It was sad really because this was one of our favorites going into that trip. Not to mention we were there early and waited over an hour over our time to get a seat.

When we were there, we rated it our favorite character breakfast, it was really good food and a fun time. That was our 4th character breakfast to try and from our experience, the best food.

The breakfast is a bit rowdy but we love the food and the kids love the characters. We weren't so crazy about the dinner selections but we are semi-vegetarian and didn't feel they offered a lot for us.

Just ask to speak to the chef (at any of the restaurants) and he/she will cook a special meal for you - I'm vegetarian and allergic to dairy so I always have to ask. To be honest, it is a great way to get a wonderful, fresh meal.

We had breakfast there in May 2006 and it was fantastic!! Not only was it one of the best breakfast buffets I've seen, the characters were fantastic and it was lots of fun. The selections on both the kids' and adults' buffets were extensive...eggs, waffles, cereal, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, granola, all the candy treats you could imagine (I had to steer my kids the other way from those or I wouldn't have survived the sugar overload rebounds all day long!) to top your yogurt, bacon, sausage, and so on and so on. It was my children's first visit to Disney and their first experience with the characters as well, so imagine their pleasure to visit with some of the biggies like Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale, and Goofy right off the bat. We were concerned the rest of the trip would be a letdown after such a great first morning, but Disney continues to have magic up their sleeves everywhere you turn it seems. For breakfast, Chef Mickey's gets two thumbs from our family.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We had dinner at CM on Christmas Eve and decided it will be our last trip. DH is a very plain eater and really enjoys well-done prime rib, but there wasn't any to be had at the carving station. He was told our waitress could get him some, but it took almost 15 minutes for her to return with it once DH spoke with her. It was good when he got it, but we felt that $30 for one piece of prime rib, a little bit of mashed potatoes, and a roll was a bit steep, even at Disney.

The salad station was very messy--dressing mixing, etc. I had to ask for butter since the bowl was completely empty.

We were seated in upper area, and it was very dark up there. My pictures weren't nearly as nice as they were the last time we ate at CM and were seated in the main area.

We did the breakfast in May. The character interaction was awesome, but the food left a lot to be desired. Everything was swimming in grease.

I too would like to hear about the dinner!

Did breakfast on the 31st Dec and as usual enjoyed it vey much. Tried the dinner for the first time Jan 9th and didnt like it.

We have only been to breakfast and enjoy it every time. I feel we can get a better value at dinner for our dollar elsewhere. Chef Mickey's is always on our to do list :)

We did dinner and the kids loved the characters but there wasn't as much selection on the buffet as CP or 1900 PF.

Did a late breakfast in October. No one was impressed with the food. The character interation was good but the food left lots to be desired.

We loved Chef Mickey's!! It was some of my favorite food. I have also been seeing some very negative reviews lately and was wondering what was up. But apparently there hasn't been any major changes, just differences in food tastes.

We did Chef Mickey's for dinner last summer and were disappointed.:sad2: I really expected the food to be better. The characters were great though. I don't think we'll be dining there any time soon.

We ate here in December. It was not my first choice but my kids begged for it so I decided we would give it a try. It was my favorite meal of the whole week and it happened to be the one I was looking forward to the least!!. I was concerned about some posts I had read about the rowdiness and the food quality but it was a great meal. Not rowdy at all. Actually it was the calmest character meal I have ever done (And I have done a bunch) The food was really good too. My daughters loved the Sunday bar. I bet my five yr old had 4 ice cream cones (it was our last night so I let them live it up). I would reccommend it to anyone and i cant wait to did it again on our next trip.

We went for lunch in September and the food was "less than ok." If we weren't on the dining plan, we probably would have been very disappointed in the price vs. the quality of food. This was actually the only bad meal we had the whole 9 days we were there though. We had gone the previous trip for breakfast and it was good, so the cook(s) may have been having a bad day. :)
