Day 13 Tuesday 23rd August 2011 Blizzard beach
We had a bit of a lie in today and then had breakfast at the Contempo Cafe.
We did plan to pop back to Downtown today for lunch and more shopping but decided we ddint really need to go back.
We caught the bus to Blizzard beach-water park, we had to wait for the next bus as there were some scooters ahead of us. We had been to Typhoon Lagoon on our previous trips so thought it would be nice for a change.
We used the companion room to change Luke. It was such a struggle, there wasnt really anywhere to change him and it was a lot smaller than some of the other restrooms we'd been in on the holiday.
We headed for Cross country creek, its always fun to relax and go around the whole park on the tubes. We stayed in there for a while and then decided to look around a bit, we then headed to Melt Away Bay-its a wave pool. I know the floor at TL is very rough but I found the floor at BB a lot worse, there were lots of sharp bits.
It was now quite late and we'd been here several hours. So we decided to get changed and have lunch. Matt took Luke into the male changing area and got him changed on the main seating area in the view of everyone-not ideal but there isnt really anywhere else. We decided that its probably not worth us visiting the water parks again in the future as its a big struggle and we cant even do the raft rides anymore. We'll just schedule in extra swimming at the hotel pool instead.
After we were changed we got a couple of burger meals to share and then went to look in the shop.
Just as we'd finished in the shop and leaving towards the exit it started to thunder.
We heard them announce that everyone had to leave the water areas and they were closing. So we timed that just right, we got to the empty bus stop and then it really tipped it down.
The bus soon arrived and so did many other people escaping the rain. The bus was only about half full (it stops at Animal Kingdom first) and noone was in the wheelchair spaces but the driver asked us to wait for the next bus. We said no as if the next bus have wheelchair/scooters on them we'd have to miss that too. plus we knew due to BB just closing the buses would be packed. Plus the fact it would be better to get on when we can, just in case other wheelchairs turned up later.
When we arrived at the hotel we relaxed for a bit and then got ready for our evening ADR.
We caught the monorail to the Polynesian for Ohana and checked in-although they too couldnt find our reservation. It took a while but eventually they found it. I liked the new arrangement of checking in as it felt a lot more organised and less crowded.
We were given a pager and sat down, we decided to get a drink. I had wanted to get one of these last year but didnt get a chance, i had planned to have it at Kona the other day but knew I wouldnt enjoy it then. Matt was just about to go to the Tambu Lounge bar when someone asked us if we'd like to order a drink. So we ordered 2 lapu lapu's, they arrived very quickly afterwards. Just as Matt went to pay our pager went off.
They were very good, you can guess who had the bigger one.
When we were seated at the same table as the other morning, lots of people were looking at them and then going through the drinks menu to find them.
I love Ohana, my only problem with it is last time we were bombarded with the food.
I did plan on asking them to slow service down for us but didnt.
However I didnt need to as our server was brilliant and the pace was just right.
They then brought the meats around- I tried a bit of each and enjoyed them however there was only one thing I wanted
On our last trip here they were a bit mean with the shrimp and only gave us a couple each, they did come round and asked if we wanted anymore but again it was only a couple.
So what I did was ask Matt to get more shrimp and then i could pinch some of it. Just as we'd finished discussing it they showed up and asked if he wanted more shrimp-what did he say? No! If looks could kill...........
So this time we practiced the art of saying yes lots of times, even Luke joined in.
This time they were very generous with the shrimp, although I got about 3/4 and Matt and Luke got 5/6. Come on give the shrimp lover her shrimp!
The important bit came up and Matt said yes to more shrimp-well done!
However ive got to say I was getting very full and had to leave some.
Next up was..........
I dont usually enjoy desserts, esp something like this, however last time I loved it.
I did plan to ask for an extra one but we were so full up. I think I was too full to enjoy any this time, I did have some and it was lovely.
We had a lovely meal and I think it was my favourite of the holiday. I know many dislike Ohana but for me it was wonderful.
We then caught the monorail to our hotel and watched Wishes before bedtime.
