Beds on other cruise lines

We are contemplating another cruise line for Alaska at some point.

Do any of the other lines have beds set up like DCL?

We have two parents who like to share a bed (with each other), and two children who CANNOT share a bed.

Basically, we need one queen and two single beds.

I don't need/want to pay for concierge type services for a suite, but we do like having a balcony.

Thanks!

GENERALLY speaking, most cruise lines have the main bed in a room as 2 twins that can be positioned together to create a queen size bed. Not DCL.

Not all rooms will have additional beds (fold out sofa, bunk, whatever), some do. These extra beds are typically twin beds.

I know on Carnival, and I assume most cruise lines, some rooms have 2 fold down bunk beds with 2 twins that can be combined as a King. (For the life of me, I don't understand why DCL beds can't be separated!) Our last verandah room had a sofa that became a twin bed as well, so there are different configurations available. Usually rooms are pretty well marked on ship maps if they sleep 3, 4, 5, etc people.

Or as a PP said, definitely check out Family Staterooms!

As long as you book a cabin that sleeps 4, one large bed and two singles will be the norm. I am not aware of a cruise line that has 2 large beds in one standard cabin.

There are several cruise lines I have seen that have rooms with one large bed and a pull out double sofa bed, meaning the two kids would need to share. This is often the case in the suite class of other ships that are set up as a bedroom and living room area that converts to the kids room. I know it's not a standard room, but I mention because a lot of DCL cruisers tend to book suites on other lines because prices for suites on other lines are often not much different from a DCL verandah.

Also possible to have four singles in the rooms that sleep 4 (was just looking at Princess the other day and this surprised me as the standard balcony rooms all had this setup). The rooms are small, so the two singles are bunks above the two other beds that would ordinarily be combined to make a king, so if you had a king set up, you'd not be able to access the bunks as the bed would block the ladder.

That said, princess's mini-suite on the ship I was looking at (Discovery princess) did seem to look very much like a DCL stateroom, with one big bed and a sofa/bunk.

That's probably what I was doing wrong.
(We enjoy the curtain that separate the adults from the kids and the extra space.)
