Beds and Bathrooms in Handicapped Cabins

I am taking my 72 year old mother on the June 22nd 7 day Western Cruise on the Disney Magic. I have booked cabin 7136 which is suppose to be a handicapped room. What kinds of beds are in this room? Does the queen sized bed convert to twin beds? What kinds of accomodations have been made in the bathroom? My mother is fairly mobile, but she does trip easily. We went on an Alaskan cruise on the Holland America cruise line, and she fell going into the bathroom because she forgot about the step. If anyone has any information about this cabin, please let me know about it

We just got back from a cruise on Wonder and were in 7138. I believe both boats are very much alike. We peeked into 7136 but did not see the bathroom. Our bathroom was extremely large about 6x10 and no step. It was all the same floor, the room and shower, with a chair to sit on in the shower. We had a walk in closet too and I noticed 7136 did not so I am not sure if the bathroom was a little different. The room 7136 is very large and comfortable. We had two rooms 7138 and 7134. The difference in size in the handicaps rooms is alot. We had a wheel chair that could turn around easily at the foot of the bed with room to spare where it couldn't fit past the foot of the bed in the other room. The beds are two twins with a single top mattress to fit over them. But our Host said we could ask them to be separated to make two twins. The couch flips over to make another bed. In 7138 we had another bed that came out of the wall. Our veranda in 7138 was a least 3 times the size of our 7134 veranda. It had four chairs and a large table but could have fit 3 times that. It was at the very back of the ship and it was such a great room. I am not sure but 7136 must have a large balcony because of the width of the room is much larger but maybe not as big as 7138. But I think you will really enjoy the handicap room and find it quite comfortable for your mom.

Thank you for the information about the beds and the bathroom! I am glad to hear that the floor of the bathroom is on the same level as the rest of the cabin. I have a couple more questions about the location of cabin 7136 on the Disney Magic. Is it a long walk to the aft elevator? Are there stairs to use to go up to deck 9 or down to where the theaters and restaurants are? I know that my mother will always want to use the elevator, but I might want to use the stairs.

It is not too long a walk to elevator and there are stairs right there up and down. We used them because they were much faster then the elevator but one of us had to wait for elevator with wheel chair. We did get alot of exercise because the boat is very big. It would help to have a wheelchair for those unable to walk long distances because from theaters to restaurants to room you are walking the length many times even if you use the elevator. I was happy for the exercise because of all we ate but I would sure consider a chair for enjoying the ship for those who can't walk it easily many times over.

We loved 6154 but it was already booked!
