Bedding Question

Ok, so now that I know I am in and all, I have a sort of weird question...

I'm assuming the beds are twin size beds, but are they just twin or that twin XL that college dorms tend to use?

I know in my apartment at Chatham, they were Twin XL, the same one that colleges use. But, I don't know what size they are in the other complexes. I think it also depends on the size of the rooms at the apartments. When I visited the 4 bedrooms apartments, the size of the rooms were smaller and I noticed that the mattresses seem smaller to have more space. I was in a 2 bedroom apartment and the rooms were huge, so that is why we had the Twin XL beds. I thought they were regular twin, but the sheets I brought didn't fit, so I had to buy the College size sheets and they fit perfectly. I was curious about all of this, so I went to housing to ask them and they said the bigger your room, the bigger the mattress. I also wonder why people would say the mattresses were uncomfortable, I always thought they were very comfortable and never needed a mattress pad.

I would say to wait until you get there and see what size the mattress is in your room. They give you plenty of time on the first day to go to Walmart and buy whatever you need. I made the mistake of buying regular twin size sheets before I got there, but they were too small and I had to buy bigger sheets. The regular size sheets just sat in my closet collecting dust throughout the entire program.

I've never seen twin xl anywhere I've been, including college. I think you'll be fine with twin sheets...

Hm, how strange. I've noticed this question asked many times on this board, and on facebook, and the people always answer that they're regular twin sized. Maybe the twin XL is something new? Hopefully they are twin XL, the more room for me to sprawl out the better!

Anywho, I would just wait til you get down there, Kelly. Maybe then you and your roommates could go on a trip to Walmart and figure out how you want to decorate your apartment.

Hmm, that's strange. I know me and my roommates had to buy bigger sheets because regular sheets didn't fit at all. I guess every apartment is different. I was in a 2 bedroom apartment and our room was huge. If you want to know how big, my roommate moved her bed to be facing sideways and there was still a lot of room in between our two beds. So, that is probably why we got Twin XL. That is why I want a 2 bedroom apartment again.

I had twin xl that I had used when I lived in a dorm, and they fit fine. They seemed a little large, and I also had two mattress pads on top of my bed, so without those I think the sheets would be too big. Personally I think it is better to have sheets that are too big instead of not big enough, but that is just me.

Not sure if it means anything, but in the discussion of bed sizes in rooms, I thought they were all the same, but I never really compared either. I was in a 3 bedroom in Chatham, and then again so were most of my friends.

I bought twin XL to be safe but I have yet to encounter a twin XL bed unless someone specially ordered it from housing. I would call the school to double check.
