Bedbugs keeping NYC tourists away.

There was a story on my local news. Apparently people are starting to feel "squimish" and are canceling. They could "deal" with the hotels, but there are to many reports of them in stores, tourist places like Lincoln Center & the Empire state building.

My hubby works in the city & we've several show tickets over the next couple of months. Hopfully the little buggers will stay away...

It's will be my own personal nightmare if I bring bed bugs home. I have avoided several places because I'm so freaked out about bed bugs..especially the movie theaters

getting bed bugs is not only about getting bitten by them...but by bringing them into your home it will become a HUGE financial burden..exterminators charge 500 to 1000 dollars a room..if they infest your home you would have to replace your bed, couch, clothing etc

I'm trying to just be smart about it..washing new clothes right away..shaking out boxes, not going near stores i know were infested. we need new pillows for our bedroom but i think i am going to wait a little bit before i purchase them.

I "try" not to let things like this effect me. Honestly, this bed bug thing has me thinking, the bug aspect is freaky, I don't like bugs in my house, outside is fine but not my house. Then there is the financial burden of bringing them home. That can get really expensive.

How this is effecting my travel is we have thought about driving straight through to Disney and not add the worry of an extra hotel. It has made me think twice about Disney. My "need" to go is stronger though. But I will check for bed bugs and it is the financial burden of bringing them home that has me most worried.

DH is going away to Chicago for work in a few weeks and I have been stressing him checking before he takes his stuff in.

We went to a show a few weeks ago in NYC and everything was fine. Stayed away from stores that we knew had been infested. Only went to the city for the day instead of the weekend. They freak me out quite frankly and I want nothing to do with bringing them homw with me.
