I heard on the radio that the government are considering adding a "bed tax" of 10% on holidays to uk hotels. If it wasn't expensive enough to holdiay in this country they want to make it worse. All this government does is add more and more taxes and you don't see any benifit from it.

:furious:

Buy a caravan :thumbsup2 We've had a weeks holiday in London for just over £100 in our folding camper, and a summer holiday for 14 nights for just over £60 for the four of us. Trouble is buying the thing in the first place!!!

...and if you don't pay the bed tax, they will have some "undercover" surveillance - "Bed Bugs" is what they will call them. :lmao:

Read about this a while back. I get e mails from Travelodge and they were campaigning against it. This is one of the most ridiculous ideas I have ever heard - we need to be encouraging the tourist industry in Britain, not trying to discourage people from coming.

With all the cheap airlines, it will soon be quicker to fly to France, Prague etc for a weekend break than it is to go to London, York, Bath etc :sad2: That is, if it isn't cheaper already. :confused3 Add 10% bed tax to the already high train prices and it wont be worth going anywhere.

Sorry, off my soap box now!

Sara. :)
