Are you able to get a bed rail for the big bed? We're thinking of doing some creative sleeping arrangements to avoid having a pack n play take up our entire living space.... dad on lower level bunk bed, 5 year old on top bunk and mom with 10 month old in the big bed (I have co-slept with both children, and I feel very comfortable safety-wise doing this). But to do this and feel comfortable, I'd like a bed rail on one side of the bed.

We did a pack n play on our first cruise with our eldest and he was just barely 2 and it just took up so much room and space is at a premium...especially now that we have a 4th person!

The bed rail can fit on any of the beds in the room. So, certainly you may place it on the queen bed. You can ask for more than one rail, if you wish, since it's length is only about 1/2 a bed length.

Perfect! Thanks so much. We used a bed rail on the lower bunk for our eldest on our last cruise (when he was almost 3 and #2 did not exist yet) but I could not remember if it would have been able to be used on the "big bed" as well!

Yes, they will fit. It's a really tight fit! We've cruised twice like this. As above, request 2 for each side of the bed you want them on. I've requested them ahead of time, but I've had to ask our room attendant when we boarded for the extra bedrails.

Have you ever used one of those sleepers that attaches to one side of the bed, so that you can sort of co-sleep while the baby is not really in the big bed? That might work well if you can bring one & if the measurements were right. The only reason I suggest it is that I feel bad for your hubby sleeping on the bunk. The big cruise bed is so comfy- I'd hate to pay for a cruise, then not get to sleep on the big bed.

But I get it if that isn't something you want to do.

Those co-sleepers are usually made for lil' tiny babies and our baby will be 10 months old by then and he's never been small (was 10 and a half lbs at birth! haha), otherwise that is a good idea.

I'm sure we'd take turns in the big bed. I can see myself getting tired of being next to a wild baby starfish. Who knows, maybe 2 days in we will give up and get a PnP anyway!

Just curious what category room do you have, on what ship?

We're on the Fantasy in cat 05B
OK, thanks. I was going to say, if you had a cat 4 on the Dream class, there's lots of room in there. As a thought, you could ask the room host to remove the coffee table. That would give you some more room in there.

I don't know if this would work, but what about putting the bed rails on the sofa pullman (on all sides) and then the baby can sleep there or are you more comfortable with the baby in arm's reach?

I can't help but think he's going to be more climb-y at 10 months and I'm not sure I'd feel confident he wouldn't find his way out and over the rail...but this is certainly an option and WOULD be more ideal.

Yeah. My MIL and SIL have the room adjoining to ours (and my FIL is in an inside room across the hall..he snores, nobody wants to room with him. haha), so we will have more room overall...but if we ever cruise with just our family in one cabin, it will be cat 4 or up for us.

I never even thought about this option. We will have 5 people in our room, so trying to avoid the pack in play as well for our just turned 2 year old. Was thinking she might end up in bed with me, was thinking I'd have to use older sister as a barrier on the other side. You just solved a problem of mine. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
