Hi all,
I have emailed the owner of the villa we are renting today to see if they have a bed guard in the villa I added if not will it be ok if we leave the one we will have to buy behind.
She has emailed me back and said they do not have one but feel free to buy and use one as long as it does not damage the bed !! She was also quite happy for me to leave it behind ( SHOCK HORROR !)

My problem is how on earth will a bed guard damage a bed ?? R they different in the usa to here ? Is she just covering her back??
My dd is nearly 3 so wont fit in a cot but is far too young to go in a bed without a bed guard - what would you do??
From the pics of the beds they just look like mormal divans !! Ive looked at the bed guards on walmart site and they look like they are the same - am i panicking about nothing??

I would of thought a bed guard is a bed guard and can't damage a bed, shes just being over cautious thats what it sounds like, if it could damage a bed it could damage a child so they wouldnt sell them!! I would also be tight-sorry!! dont leave it in the villa for her!! she could of easily offered you the money for it, if it was being left in her villa..::yes::

I have bed rails for my guests to use and they do not damage the bed at all .I know that because I arrived here last week after a family with triplets stayed and used them so I have just been and checked for you .

Some Villa management companies allow for you to hire them from them when you get there to save you having to buy one. May be worth investigating when you get there and register with them.

Have a look in some of the US threads for families, I am sure I saw somewhere about a company in Orlando that hires out all types of baby & children equipment.

Hiya,

Luckily we managed to negotiate the free hire of both 'baby' monitors and bed guards (amongst other things!) as part of the 'deal' we got on the villa we are renting......

We used the same villa company for our last trip and had one bed guard last time which was pretty much the same as UK ones, can't see how they would damage the bed :confused3 Think she's being a bit cheeky really, surely she must have other guests who need bed guards?? :confused3 When I approached our villa company about needing two sets of monitors, he said he would be more than happy to purchase an extra set as they would be of use for future guests and not just us :thumbsup2

Hope you manage to get things sorted out :goodvibes

I can't see how a bed rail (or guard) would damage the bed. I live in the US and have them in my house right now I am sure she is just covering herself. I personally wouldn't leave it behind. I would price them on walmart.com and then look into renting to see whats the cheapest option. I don't think they are very expensive maybe $20. Let me knwo if you have any other questions:)

I am surprised the villa owner does not have one or has not offered to buy one? Some owners must just be lacking in their customer focus or just plain lazy!
We have stayed in a villa on many occasions & every single bed our kids have used has been a mattress on top of a divan bed so the chance of a bed rail damaging it is slight at the very worst IMHO.
Enjoy your holiday.

Thanks guys,
I thought I was cracking up and didnt understand the comment. Hubby said I took offence to easily to the email but I just thought she would be a bit more appreciative that I would buy it and leave it behind for her to advertise as having one !!
I have thought about pulling the mattress off the base and letting dd sleep on mattress on the floor rather than leaving the bed guard !!!
Ive turned into tight *** *** she got my back up :)
Ill google to see if I can hire one first though !!

This is really naughty but you could always return the one you purchase at the end of your stay.... I am ready for the flames and I cringe as I type....
