Just a question as we are trying to decide on a home resort. Is there one DVC resort that has more of an issue with bed bugs than others? I’ve never seen any bed bugs at Disney and yes, I think they do a phenomenal job keeping the rooms clean but just want to ask the question. Yes, I know you can get bed bugs from anywhere.

We got bed bugs from a 1 bedroom beach club villa in 2018. Room was perfectly clean. It can happen anywhere. We’re staying beach club again in four weeks. I doubt any resort has a greater chance than others of having them. If anything I say bigger resorts like Kidani have a greater chance solely because of number of guests.

Never had an issue at all and stayed everywhere but OKW.

Bed bugs happen each week SOMEWHERE on Disney property. It is who stayed in room before you and where they slept the nights before they came to ORL.

Yes, I am very aware of that. However, I’m just trying to find out if one DVC resort has more reports of bed bugs than others.

It's just random chance, so presumably the larger resorts have individual reports more often. But, there are also more rooms at the larger resorts so it is easier to avoid them.

IMO, this is so far down the list of reasons why I might choose one resort over another that I wouldn't even think about it.

When you work in certain professions you think about it lol!! I’m an Infection Prevention Nurse. I’ll be around COVID any day but don’t sent a bed bug my way 😀

when I travel I always do a check of the mattress by pulling up the sheets and checking the folds of the mattress. In 600 nights over last couple of years I’ve found bugs twice. Needless to say I left the room and got a new one with extra loyalty points as compensation

when I get home I put my luggage and stuff into a bed bug oven heating everything to 120 degrees kills bugs and eggs in 60 seconds

I really don't think any one resort will be worse than another. DVC runs at such high occupancy that most rooms are going to have people in them most nights so they could be brought in anytime. We just don't hear about it much from Disney resorts because of NDA's.

This would be my least deciding factor.

We never had an issue - but never say never. I have read where some Disney resorts have had issues of course in the past.

Good luck deciding!!!

I doubt that there’s any way to even find out this information, the so called registries don’t seem to get much traffic & are based on voluntary unverified reports - here’s a link though https://www.smartertravel.com/is-your-hotel-on-the-bedbug-registry/
You could search ‘bedbugs’ here on DIS which makes for interesting reading including the info. that Disney’s response to verified instances is swift & thorough, which is reassuring but doesn’t quantify the issue.
I’ve been lucky, I’ve traveled extensively through the years including annually to WDW staying at AKV or VGF (also in past decades CBR, POFQ, YC, Poly, BWV, GF) & so far haven’t run into the nasty little hitch hikers - & fingers crossed that my good luck continues :)

It doesn't need to be the last person who was in the room before you. Bed bugs may travel to the hotel with you from the airplane, bus, or a multitude of places.

Take a small flashlight and pull back your sheets and check the seam around the mattress just to be sure. We've been DVC since 1996 and never seen one.

Are you pro- or anti-bedbug? I've noted that there is a rampant amount of anti-bedbug bias in DVC. So if you are looking to have more bedbugs in your vacation experience, then you may want to look at other resorts and hotels besides just DVC.

Why would someone be “pro” bedbug and want “more bedbugs in your vacation experience”? That’s ridiculous!!
