few across the street hotels are available because we're going last minute. Camelot is available. I read on trip advisor there were bed bugs there 1/26. Would you stay there?

Our other option is Stovall's.

Camelot gets great reviews and even the bed bug reviewer liked it other than the bugs. It also seems to be the only review with bed bugs. I would believe the management who said that all the rooms were inspected.

Any place can get bed bugs, like any kid can get head lice, it should be more about how the facility dealt with the situation rather than the initial incident. If a place had them later last month they may have gone through an intense cleaning to remedy the situation.

Agreed - they are everywhere unfortunately and what matters is how the hotel responds. Always inspect the room upon entry. Bedbugs don't care if it is a 5 star hotel or not!

Just be careful and before you bring in your luggage do a thorough bed inspection (really, you should anywhere)

Sorry but how do you conduct a thorough bed bug investigation of a hotel room?

Thanks. I was thinking it had a higher chance of being bug free. I'm hoping they did an inspection of the whole place. :)

Normally, what I do is check the mattress or mattress corners. And of course underneath the sheets and mattress cover. If there are blood spots or dirt marks, that to me is an indication of bed bugs.

No way would I stay there if there was a recent report. I realize they treat for it and every place has them but personally I would avoid it like the plague. If you store your luggage for instance where they stored their luggage they can climb in. It doesn't have to be on the bed. Keep everything off the floor and do not unpack if you stay there.

If bed bug reports are the deal breaker, then you can't even stay at the GCH. There have been reports there, too. Someone on these boards reported finding bed bugs at a property across the street (woke up with multiple bites), then immediately packed up and went to the DLH. Didn't check the luggage for bugs and didn't tell the hotel until well after check out that they might have brought bed bugs with them. All this to say, bed bugs can happen anywhere for all kinds of reasons. It doesn't necessarily mean the property in question is filthy and disgusting.

Who knows where the "bed bugs" might have came from though? With only 1 report, unless there were pictures of bed bugs on the bed, they could have gotten bit somewhere or by something else.

We've stayed there many different times and have never had a problem. In fact, we've stayed at multiple hotels all along Harbor and a couple on Katella and have never had a problem in all the years we've been going to Disneyland. (knock on wood)

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't worry about it.

Every single hotel in that area has had bed bugs, even the Disney hotels. One report from a reputable hotel yet causes knee jerk reactions from paranoid people. 5 star hotels can have bed bugs! Just like rich kids can get head lice.

This this this this this! As a medical professional, we get calls about "bed bugs" all the time. Rarely are they ever really bed bugs. More often are things like fleas from animals, folliculitis from the hot tub, or scabies. Sure, they can all cause the "heebie jeebies" in people, but just because someone sees a bug, or notices a bug bite in the morning doesn't mean there's a bed bug infestation. People are quick to yell "bed bugs" without actual proof.

I may have not mentioned that hotel management acknowledged in the post I'm referring to that there were bed bugs in the room.
AND ... management took care of it immediately.

Thank you for your review and again we apologize for the inconvenience you and your family encountered. Once this issue was reported , our maintenance and housekeeping team took immediate action to rectify the problem. Since your visit, our guest rooms have been thoroughly inspected, and you can rest assured all rooms are clean and cleared of any findings

Heck, the reviewer still gave them 3*'s even with the bed bug problem.

Stay at Stovall's then but don't think you will be completely immune to bed bugs. They really can be in any hotel anywhere.

Reports of bedbugs and food poisoning are often not what people think. They get bit by fleas at the beach, go back to the hotel and assume it is bedbugs. They get norovirus, and the restaraunt they ate at this morning gave them food poisoning. In both cases, you should get the case verified. Both bedbugs and food poisoning are rarer than most believe.

Yes, people blame the restaurant when it was the patron who touched a door handle (or what ever) and got it from whom ever left it there before them.
This is why we use hand sanitizer before every meal out.

Yep, but this was a *recent* report. I know they are everywhere. I wo

I think the key factor here is "recent". There's not a single person that could convince me to stay here. Even if I had to pay $300/night somewhere else. Money would not be a factor. Yes they can be anywhere but we know they were here RECENTLY and we know they are hard to get rid of. Run!

I called and talked to the manager about this very report. They said it was isolated and the room was immediately treated. It really does happen all the time, at all hotels.
