I stayed in a Chicago-area hotel Saturday night, and on Sunday morning I noticed a few "mosquito bites." By Sunday afternoon, I was itching like crazy, and the bites are all over me, like at the waistband of my underwear, where it would have been covered by at least 3 layers of clothing -- difficult for your typical mosquito to get to while I was outside. Today the itch is almost unbearable!
Unfortunately, I know some of you have experience with bed bugs (which I'm pretty much convinced they are at this point). My question is what do I do now? DH and kids are bite-free, but I used a blanket that no one else did. Can a doctor determine what kind of bug bit me? I'm guessing no, and he'll just tell my to get some benadryl cream. And should I call the hotel? What do I say? I'm not trying to sue or anything, but it seems like they should know, so they can check the room very carefully and wash all the blankets properly.
Luckily I kept all our suitcases downstairs (on hard laundry room floor). We only took our cosmetic/shaving kits upstairs last night. I'm doing all the laundry now, and I'm putting the suitcases in garbage bags and setting them in the garage for a few days. I'll also wash the sheets on our bed now. Is there anything else I should be doing to prevent the problem here, if these are in fact bed bugs? I'm freaking out right now, and I could use some reassurance.
