A friend of mine just got back from PC and said there was a wide spread bed bug issue. To the point that they are selling extra underwear and what not at the I'n resort store. Can anyone co firm this?! I'm staying in two weeks and am seriously considering changing resorts.. Like ***

Every hotel gets bed bugs at some point, the question is how well they eradicate them. Everything I can find says Disney is extremely proactive when they are reported. I cannot find anything on the bed bug registry that's recent except for January of this year.

One of my coworkers just got home Sunday from 10 nights at Pop and said that would be news to them. His brothers family was there at the same time and never heard anything either.

Besides, resort stores have always sold underwear. It's in 3 packs (Disney themed of course)
Has nothing to do with bed bugs

Yes this! My daughter saw them in one of the gift shops a few years ago and was crazy excited lol. Every time we go back she requests new mickey undies, so they've sold them in the gift shops for at least the last few years.

Every resort in the world could have or have had a bed bug issue from time to time, but by all accounts on these boards and elsewhere Disney is very good about getting them under control quickly and efficiently.

it's not unheard of for hotels to get bed bugs - they are really hard to get rid of, and really have nothing to do with hotel cleanliness, even super clean places can have them brought in.

This is why we always follow strict bed bug check protocol when staying outside of our home, including leaving luggage either in the car or in the bathtub while conducting the check, always packing/zipping the luggage closed during the trip, and never unpacking into cabinets or shelves.

I don't mind dealing with bed bugs in a hotel (we'd request to move rooms if we found them to somewhere far away as a precaution), but would rather burn all of my clothing & belongings then bring them home.

I always check my mattress no matter where I am: Motel 6, Hilton, Disney...doesn't matter. Just pull the top corner of the sheet up and make sure everything looks okay back there. I check sheets when I first enter a room anyway. It's good practice to make sure room was turned over okay and nothing was missed. I think you will be fine.

Ok, I guess I am missing something. What does underwear have to do with bed bugs?

If Disney confirms bedbugs, they will take your clothes away for processing, and give you money to buy replacement clothes in the meantime.

But only underwear? I can't imagine they want everyone walking around the resort wearing only Disney themed undies. Seems like that would be a bigger issue than bed bugs.

They already sell other garments at the shops, obviously. I think the OP was surprised to hear about undies being sold in the gift shops, and attributed it to this.
