Beaver Tails - snack in Canada ?

Sorry, no Timmies either :sad2: In my opinion if they want to "highlight" the Canadian culture they should be serving Timmies!!!!:lmao:

So PETA was upset about the Beaver Tails but said nothing about bear fur hats???? I know there are totem poles in Canada - though not on every street corner like some people visiting the Canadian Pavillion might think, but when was the last time you saw someone in a fur skin hat (and before anyone says "they don't have those anymore"...I saw them when we were there in Sept. 2010). The same group of you ladies that were trying them on asked me if we see alot of penguins and seals where I live in southern Ontario???!!! :scared1: (Personally I think it's hilarious...scary, but hilarious:rotfl:)

The PETA thing isn't true. Just a joke or urban legend.

"Who sees fraking totem poles in Canada"? -- seriously? People living in Canada either need to get out and travel more in there own country OR need to read up more on their own heritage. Totem poles are a big part of our culture and heritage. I would hate to see them gone in the Canadian Pavilian.

Really, let's bring in hockey and Tim's? That is what defines Canada? Wow. That is pretty sad. If I live in a county that is defined by a sport and crappy coffee....then I would rather not live here....maybe it is no wonder we riot after losing a hockey game.....if it's all we are defined by.

And get rid of the dog sleds, people obviously haven't been up to the NWT and northern parts of BC and Alberta.....they live by dogsleds up there. It's fun. Should try it!!!!!

You can still get a beavertail at Epcot --

you just need a special machine...

If you want to bow to political correctness, get rid of the whole dang Canadian pavilion. Every horrid stereotype of Canada short of igloos and sled dogs. Lumberjack shirts and kool-ots? Really? And totem poles? C'mon, who sees fraking totem poles?
Precisely. The idea that political correctness had anything to do with the departure of Beaver Tails is ridiculous, given that slabs of the flesh of innocent, cruely-abused (from the standpoint of the people who allegedly would have applied pressure to get Disney to discontinue Beaver Tails) animals are being served every day in the restaurant.

Beaver Tails are gone almost surely because there was no sweet-spot between how much it cost to offer them and how much patrons were willing to pay for them. As with many things, the simplest explanation is probably the correct one.

You forgot fraking delicious, especially with baby seal gravy. :P

That reminds me of another recent thread, where folks are discussing the difference between being accidentally offensive and subsequently contrite, versus folks being deliberately offensive. ;)

Right. It was a variation of that. Beaver Tails is a Canadian Company operating primarily out of Quebec and Eastern Ontario an hold the trademark to the name. It was expensive for them to run one little stall in the US and they couldn't reach an agreement with Disney that made it viable to serve the product at a reasonable price point and give Disney the cut it wanted as essentially rent. So, they pulled out. So yes, can't sell at the price point that the market will bear then you don't operate.
