EPCOT World Showcase - Canada

Beaver Tails snack:woohoo:
"a fried dough shaped like a beaver tail and then coated in cinnamon and sugar or other decadently sweet things"

:confused3Where can we buy them ?

CS at Canada ?

Le Cellier for lunch or dinner ?

Thanks!

Sorry to say this, but the beaver tails have been gone for years (I think the last time I had one was 2003 or 2004). They were delicious and available from a kiosk that I think now just sells drinks and maybe generic pastries.

It has been quite a few years since I have seen sweet Beaver Tails in Canada. Maybe 6-7 years ago?

I'll be in Halifax tomorrow, want me to stop at Beavertails on the waterfront and get you one?!?! :thumbsup2

They are sooo yummy!

They are a victim of political correctness. Disney caved in to PETA's complaints that they were maltreating and mutilating beavers.

If you want to bow to political correctness, get rid of the whole dang Canadian pavilion. Every horrid stereotype of Canada short of igloos and sled dogs. Lumberjack shirts and kool-ots? Really? And totem poles? C'mon, who sees fraking totem poles?

There are totem poles all over BC. Stanley Park has multiple Totems, along with a few where I camp at Cultus Lake Provincial Park which is about and hour and a half outside of Vancouver. Though I do agree that the stereotyping in The Canada pavillion is kind of sickening to Canadians (myself included). But then again there is that kind of stereotyping all over the World Showcase. Do you think that everyone in Japan walks around in kimonos, or everyone in Morroco wears a fez? It's all about theming really, what would you put them in? Hockey uniforms LOL! I mean really what "is" Canadian garb?

I'm not looking to get into a policitcal debate, I'm just saying that kind of thing is all over the World Showcase. I would also contend that the Canada Pavillion is one of the best experiences in the WS. But that's just my opinion too :D

P.S. I think UK and France come in a close second and third for me.

The World Showcases are not meant to give a "real" experience but to highlight the cultures of each country. As the PP mentioned, do you think everyone in Africa plays the bongo's and carves animals? Do you think that all Norwegians wear frilly dresses, or germans sing and dance during dinner?

Its not stereotyping, it is highlighting cutlures, but it is these silly opinions that end up with everything getting so watered down in order to not offend someone......

Nurse shark joke?:rotfl: As a nurse I've got to hear this. Could one of you please post this?
All of the sharks at Shark Reef (in Typhoon Lagoon) are related to Bruce in Finding Nemo; "People are friends, not food". Included are Nurse Sharks. You can tell which are the Nurse Sharks, they are the ones who hand out Band-Aids.

There are plenty of totem poles in Niagara;) Sled dogs should be included, lacrosse should be a exhibit lol!

I have no problem with the Canada pavilion. Love the new film with Martin Short and love eating at Le Cellier. As others have said, taking bits from a country's culture doesn't mean those bits define us.

That's easy for you to say. Try wearing lumberjack shirts in Florida summer weather.

I personally think a Tim Horton's and the cast members wearing their local NHL teams' shirts. Short sleeves for the summer.

I hope you all know I now want a beaver tail :( They are so gooooooddddd!! I cant wait to see the Canada exhibit!! they better have Timmies!! ;)

Sorry, no Timmies either :sad2: In my opinion if they want to "highlight" the Canadian culture they should be serving Timmies!!!!:lmao:

So PETA was upset about the Beaver Tails but said nothing about bear fur hats???? I know there are totem poles in Canada - though not on every street corner like some people visiting the Canadian Pavillion might think, but when was the last time you saw someone in a fur skin hat (and before anyone says "they don't have those anymore"...I saw them when we were there in Sept. 2010). The same group of you ladies that were trying them on asked me if we see alot of penguins and seals where I live in southern Ontario???!!! :scared1: (Personally I think it's hilarious...scary, but hilarious:rotfl:)
