We're heading to WDW in July. Although I've been to MGM many times, I've never seen the Beauty and the Beast show. I'm wondering, would it be worth seeing for my 4 year old girl (who likes princesses but is not in love with that particular movie), and my two boys, ages 9 and 7 (who of course do not care about girly things at all).

I have a couple of options here, namely the boys can go watch a different show (like Lights, Motor, Action) while DD and I see Beauty, we could all see Beauty, or we could just skip it. I'd appreciate any insight from you experienced DISers who've brought your little ones to the show.

Thanks!

One of the better shows at Disney...

wih action, fun characters, music and entertaining dance numbers.

And a really great PRE-show.

Great show. My favorite one at WDW actually.

I think everyone in your party will enjoy it alot. :thumbsup2

It really is one of the best shows on property IMHO. People who have seen the broadway production of Beauty & the Beast will state that it pales in comparison, but since I have not, this version works well for me!

I've seen the Broadway show, but I still love this one. It's one of my must-sees. Also Festival of the Lion King at AK is fantastic as well, and I've seen that on Broadway as well.

I don't think it's fair to compare the parks shows to the Broadway versions. They're all wonderful. It's just that the Broadway shows are on a different level. (And tickets can cost over $100, luckily for me, I was given tickets as gifts.)

Anyway, Beauty and the Beast is great, and I watch it repeatedly on DVD. I also agree with the previous poster that the pre-show, Four for a Dollar is great as well.

Definatly take you whole family to see it.

I wish I had seen either of those broadway shows. I am kicking myself for not taking advantage when the Lion King passed through last year.

I had forgotten about For for a Dollar. That was a very welcome, unexpected surprise! It was great fun indeed! :thumbsup2

I took my girls to see the Broadway one and it was toooo long for them-I know that they'll love this one because I did years ago when I saw it (provided it hasn't changed :rotfl: )

Totally worthwhile - my daughter sits positively rapt and open-mouthed each time!

Okay so I never said my kids were normal. Both were bored with it and agreed it is something to be skipped on future trips.

We had never seen the show until our last trip almost two years ago. I'm not a big fan of the movie, but I loved  the show and will definitely be going back to see it again in September!

Wonderful show, the first time I saw it I was with some of the kids from our High School band, Male and Female ages 15 -18. They all enjoyed it. Next time I was with my 4yr old DGD this past Sept, 2 22 yr old boys, 1 70 yr old MIL and us 49 we all thought it was good. We were sitting in the back but still enjoyed the show. It is definetly something worth seeing and your boys should enjoy it as well. At least try it once to see. I agree with the post about the Lion King as well, it is extremely well done. Both of these in our book is not to be missed. :sunny:

Gosh--I'm overwhelmed by all the positive comments. Thanks for helping me feel better about taking the reluctant boys (including DH!) to this one. I'll make it a priority on our MGM day.

Definitely a great show... we make sure to see it everytime we are there. DH cried

I'm probably the only person who didin't enjoy this show! :rotfl2: everyone else in our party did though. I think I got spoiled by Hunchback when it was at MGM, I thought that was much better than BATB. If I hadn't seen that one first I probably would have loved it.

I'm the only female in my family of DH, DSs ages 9, 6 & 6. They know that they must indulge mom each trip with BATB. But ya know what...they all really enjoy it as well, even though they call it "girly stuff." It is a very good show for all ages, both boys and girls. And don't you and your daughter miss Lights, Motors, Action! You will both enjoy that, too.

i've honestly never liked the show. It's prety plain and boring in my oppinion. but it is probably due to the limited space the show was given. I just found it sort of redundant. I don't think your boys will like it very much. your daughter probably will.

But if you do go get there early for the entertaining pre show festivities.
