Beating the Heat in Mid June

We have one of those fan water bottle things from our last trip which we will be bringing. Thinking of getting stay cool towels (Frog Toggs or other brand) for this trip. Are they worth it? Any other gear or gadgets to help beat the heat (I know about the free ice water).

I would get one Frog Togg now to see how you like it. Personally, I don't want to tote that stuff around (and I end up being the one to pack and tote junk around). I also don't like the feeling of them (after I tried a friends). That's just me others love them.

My family did not like the feel as well. However my friend gave us a dollar store version and people did use that one. We had a zip lock bag. When it lost its cool or began to dry put it in the bag add ice water and you are set to go. Tried pouring water on it but the bag worked best. I will bring only one in July for dd and I to share.

I feel like the family pack mule at times.

Good thoughts everyone, thanks. Luckily we still have a stroller, so I've got room to lug around extra stuff! Maybe I will order one and see how it goes. Knowing my family some will be OK with it and others will hate them.

I saw someone suggest bringing a washcloth and hanging it from a caribbeaner off your stroller. You can dip the washcloth in ice water to cool off your face and neck. Personally, I like that idea better than a towel on my neck all the time.

I freeze a washcloth the night before and pack that in a baggie. I also use the Frog Togg towel as well. I do not like a mister fan, as I feel like it's just more humidity on my face. I like small fan with out water.

Hubby loves the frogg togs. I bought us all new ones for our trip next week! Personally, I think they are ok, but it's better than nothing

I have used frog togs and liked them however I tried the Mission brand which is for athletes and it works much better. You can purchase it on line or Target has them now. I swear by this brand!

Also with this brand to get the towel to cool again just snap it. Or wet towel thoroughly again and snap it.

We go every summer and the best thing we have found is to just intersperse your indoor attractions with your outdoor attractions.

Im not sure your frogg toggs will be too effective...they work by going cool when they evaporate but you have so much humidity in June they wont be as efficient.

I don't care for the Frogg Toggs either. I don't like having something wet around my neck, I'm already dripping with sweat. I also don't care for the mister fans for the same reason. don't need to add more moisture. I do carry a small fan, one a little better than the dollar store type fans...compact and can wear it around my neck, so nothing extra to carry in a bag.

Get a camelback and freeze and water. Wear it and it will keep your back cool. Don't care for those fans or cooling towels. Just wear a big hat and stay hydrated. Stay in the shade and take breaks in the AC. When we used to go in the summer (now we will only go between nog and April) we used to find s nice cool spot and pass out.

I'm the same way. I also don't like any water-based cooling solutions when it is very humid, which is just about all the time in Florida. What works for me at Disney is the same thing that works for me at home when we get our inevitable run of 90+ days: lots of water and shade, taking breaks in the air conditioning or swimming when it fits with our plans, a good sunhat and light, breezy clothes, and traveling as light as possible (no big old bag to make me sweat more!).

We've used Frogg Toggs and they do provide some relief. But last August it was SO hot, they definitely made us feel worse for the reason you said. I'm still going to give them another shot this August.

I agree, a good touring plan is the key.

You have to take those breaks in the AC, even if it means sticking a visit to Hall of the Presidents into your touring schedule where you normally wouldn't put one lol.
