Just wondering if anyone has good tips on items they use or clothing they wear to endure Orlando weather.

I've bought a Frogg Toggs cooling towel and a necklace-type fan in case the heat makes me uncomfortable.

Also, does Disney over-aircondition their indoor venues (like grocery stores where glasses fog up upon entry?).

I like temperatures in 77-86 degrees Fahrenheit or 25-30 degrees Celsius (most places that air condition make me want to put on a sweatshirt... just I don't want to drag one of those to the parks with me unless absolutley necessary).

Also, for ladies... how well does make up stay on in sweaty humidity? Any tips for looking good for photos?

Regarding the AC, when we were there a few weeks ago we found it was not turned up high enough. Most indoor attractions were barely cold. TSM was the only one I recall that actually felt refreshingly cool when we entered.

I live here full time... Sweat wicking clothes, like Under Armour, in the humidity is great. This includes undies. The AC difference is generally tolerable because of the number of people and the doors being open.

As to make up - a good primer can keep things from sliding too much but don't expect things to last all day. Unless you want to be primping before every photo you're gonna have a shiny, sweaty look. I find a good lipstick with a not-too-dark color keeps you looking nice.

I'm a life-long Floridian, so heat and humidity are my life. With your specified temperature range, you should be comfortable outside in the morning and evening, no problem. The afternoons will definitely take you out of your comfort zone. Honestly, the things you've bought are the two things we carry when it's hot-- cooling towels and fan on a lanyard. If your room has a freezer, wet the towels at night and put them in the freezer; then in the morning, pack them in Ziploc bags. At least when you first put them on, they will have a greater cooling effect. You'll be surprised that it lasts a pretty long time, too.

Avoid getting really wet. I would never buy a misting fan, for example. It is very humid, and the water is cool at first, but stays with you for too long. Avoid rides that get you wet, too, like KRR or Splash Mountain. This time of year, I would only ride on them as my last ride before I left the park and only if my room was pretty close by so that I could change quickly. otherwise, you'll be wet for hours in the humidity.

yay! Let's talk park make-up! (do I take a fair amount of crap from family about makeup in the park?? Yes. Do I care? NO.) of course everyone's skin/style is different, for me I go with a good quality primer over my sunscreen, (I adore smashbox) my regular everyday foundation, for lips I use an all day matte gloss in the morning and just apply chapstick over it as needed. Eyes- slightly shimmery eye shadow since you'll be sweaty anyway, no eye liner (chance of raccoon eyes is too great) brow gel, a good WP mascara that I use sparingly, and my ultimate secret weapon, Urban Decay's all nighter make up setting spray. It works miracles, and you can get a travel size bottle at Ulta or sephora pretty cheaply.

Ok, so for staying cool I try to wear lightweight "tech" type material clothing... so for me that will be running shorts and a tank. (Lululemon is my fav... I just pretty much wear my workout stuff all week since it's breathable and dries quickly)

For makeup staying on, since I live in GA and deal with heat/humidity/sweat all the time, I use a makeup primer (smashbox photofinish) and eyelid primer (urban decay). I wear lightweight tinted moisturizer instead of heavy foundation. (Pür) and I spray with a setting spray if I think it'll be super humid. It works at least in the Georgia humidity!

Drink lots of water. Use a Frogg Togg cooling towel. In the heat of the day is when we do our table service meal. it gets you out of the heat in somewhere cool for about an hour. Then we also go back to the resort and swim and return to the park at 5pm when it is getting cooler out

Florida in the summer time is killer for me but I can't resist it. My Hashimoto's keeps my body temp a moving target and difficult to regulate; I can cool off easier than I can warm up once chilled. So, I find it's easier for me to dress half & half....shorts with a lightweight, long sleeve moisture wicking top. Add to this that I have long hair worn styled but down and wear full makeup to the parks. Good, lightweight foundation with smashbox primer and setting spray are the key.

Should I even bother with make-up if I have to reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours? Or will a wide-brimmed hat work with a base-layer sunscreen all day? Or do you just reapply sunscreen around your face (avoiding eyes) and hope the eyeshadow stays in place?

My moisturizer, foundation and powder all have spf, so I figure I'm getting a little coverage with that. I wear sunglasses and a hat most of the time, so I just make sure I sunscreen my body and my face is usually covered. That being said, I am part Cherokee and don't burn easily, so I usually don't have to worry about that as much as my fair skinned friends.

Moisture wicking SPF rated clothes and a light colored wide brim hat. I actually prefer very lightweight long sleeve shirt and long pants for the sun protection. DW, who is sensitive to the sun adds a high SPF sun screen. I am OK without it. Lots of water and frequent indoor periods. Midday breaks to avoid the peak of the sun. Go slow.

That said, DW has basically given up on summer visits to Florida. Medications she takes make it more difficult to regulate her body temperature. Last year we were there for two weeks in mid August. It was brutal. We have been "northerners" for too long.
