So I wanted to do Disney this weekend (I have a 3-day) and NOTHING has been available. Not on the phone. Not online. Nothing. I KNEW if I kept at it, something would open up. Sure enough, I got an All Star for a very, very deep (think less than Holiday Inn) discount.

Yes! I've heard that All Stars is doing some fabulous rates! Friends of ours from Ft. Myers were going to come up because they got a rate for $54 a night! Can't beat that with a stick!

Disney's online system really annoys me. I'm looking at resorts for my December trip. I first did a search for an entire week (sat - sun, 7 nights). It's nice that they list how much it is each night. That's when I noticed how much more it is on the weekends. So I modified my search for Sun - Fri. Now it tells me there's nothing available at the resort. How can they be available if I include the weekends then?? I could understand if I it wasn't available b/c I was adding days, but I'm subtracting days! Greedy system!!

It's been a great day so far! Insane park crowds but no one around otherwise.

The trick is to book the whole week and call and remove the days you don't want. There's no penalty. I've done it a lot.

Sometimes a hotel will require a certain minimum length of stay (LOS) or a stay including certain nights. Sometimes you can get around it by calling... We have a 2 night min LOS on football weekends usually, requiring a stay on either a Friday night + Sat or Sat+Sun.

If you call, don't tell the booking agent you plan to call back and cancel off the nights you don't need. That makes them cranky. Just book whatever, then call back and modify.
