animal kingdoms new land????anyone herd the rumors its apparently gunna be themed on mythological creatures such as unicorns and dragons.anyone no more???

This rumor surfaces every so often. Before AK was built one of the lands was supposed to be Beastlie Kingdomme. Because of budget cuts Disney delayed the building of Beastly Kingdomme and built Camp Mickey and Minnie and put the show lion King in that area to keep the area ready for Beastlie Kingdom.
My understanding is that because Lion King and Camp Mickey and Minnie are so well liked that Disney scraped the whole idea of Beastlie Kingdomme.
They really had some great ideas on the drawing board and many people would like to see them become reality but I fear the chances of that happening are slim.
We can always hope.

Here is an article about some Disney attractions that were designed but never built. The Dragon Tower attraction was originally slated for Beastlie Kingdomme land planned for Disney's Animal Kingdom park in Florida. This article gives one a virtual walk-through of Beastlie Kingdomme and the ride Dragon Tower.

There was a similar post on this board a while ago.
It's a real shame this stuff got scrapped. It's my understanding that Dueling Dragons was also intended for AK, but those folks headed to IOA instead.

The area was definitely planned. It was referenced in promotional materials, on tv shows, and a dragon was even in the park's logo (I have a t-shirt).

It was axed because the park didn't draw as well as had been hoped, and they were afraid to make another huge investment. They don't seem to have any desire to make such an investment now either, so BK appears to still be just some plans on a shelf. It has nothing to do with FotLK being successful.

.

Yep. There's still a dragon head above one of the ticket booths...and unicorn in the parking lot...

It would be kind of neat to see what Disney decides to do with AK eventually because I think that there is a lot of great potential for that park.

I feel like the Beastly Kingdomme will never happen. This thread was brought back to life from the summer of 2005..... We all thought that there would be some kind of announcement by now. In two more years I guarantee someone bump this thread again, and we'll all say I here that there will be an announcement about it by 2013

Every time I see this. . . .(see image below) it reminds me that CMM was only supposed to be temporary.

It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I still hold out hope there will be a Beastly Kingdom in the future, perhaps named Narnia

I agree that a land named Narnia may be a great way to introduce a mythological section to AK.

Since a lot of mythological creatures are in the story of Narnia Disney can use a lot of what was originally planned for BK but using Narnia creatures instead of mythological creatures that were planned for the original Beastlie Kingdomme.

I think doing a land based entirely off of Narnia might not be a great idea, mainly due to the heavy christian overtones in the story. They could have it there, but I don't know if it would be the primary focus.

You do have to remember that Disney has several other fantasy movies, including Bridge to Terabethia (spelled wrong I'm sure) and The Black Cauldron.

There is also still a TON of space behind CMM. If you ride the bus in you can see it to your left after you go through the stoplight on the way in. The way it was explained to me, CMM was always supposed to be there as the merger of reality and fantasy. That's why they put the characters there, as fantasy icons living in our real world.

And in addition to the dragon rock formation, there were legends of a fire-breathing dragon living in the cave just a bit further down the river (it used to still shoot fire out from time to time until a few years back).

The christian stuff goes over most kids heads I would think. Plus, there is no need to stress that in attractions

True, but still doing an entire land on such am exact theme is rather limiting I would think. Better to add a Narnia attraction or even section to Beastly Kingdom

I hate reading these kinds of threads. They get me so excited about something I'll probably never get to experience. Maybe Disney will go ahead with their plans. It'd be a great addition to AK! All I have is hope, right?

I love the idea! I just read the article and loved the idea of a volcano ride in adventureland. Disney doesn't need a new park at all, there is plenty to do in the existing parks.

Robin Hood would be much better than Narnia.
