Can someone tell me, from MCO to Interstate 4 travelling on the 528, how many toll booths are there, and how many cents to pay at each booth.
I just got a letter from Dollar rent a car stating that while on my vacation to Orlando, November 2008, I am supposed to have not paid 50 cents at the Toll Gate (BEELINE WEST-ORT WEST) and now they have billed me for $25.5.
How did I get through the barrier if I didn't pay, and which Booth was it.

2 toll booths west bound on 528 from MCO to I-4. One for $0.75 and the last for $0.50. If you went through one of the E/Sun-PASS only lanes and it was not gate controlled, a photo may have been taken of the car license tag and Dollar was contacted by the Expressway authority for non-payment of tolls.

Suggest you contact Dollar regarding your situation.

Did you enter or leave the Beach Line in the middle, say to go to a shopping mall? Some of the ramps have toll booths on them.

You could not have run a toll booth without passing under an archway of some kind if not a structure that is unmistakably a toll booth. I suggest you not contact the city or toll agency yourself yet; first have the rental agency send you a description of exactly where and when a toll was run. This info should come off the top of their heads; do not tell them your itinerary and travels first.

I'm not sure whether either or both of the Beach Line tolls have been converted to what looks like an exit ramp for all cash customers and center through lanes with archway for E-pass/O-pass/Sunpass holders only. I-pass and EZ-pass do not work.

For those eavesdropping, do it this way:

(To Disney) Leave airport north exit and take left at first light. You'll see a toll booth in the distance to your left on your mile or so trek to the next light (Conway) and now you take two quick lefts at lights to get on Beach Line west. One 75 cent toll (or did they raise it to $1) and then you get to I-4, go west (southwest) for Disney.

(Going home) Returning to airport via I-4 east to Beach Line, get off B.L. at its exit 9 Tradeport. Left and cross under. Get into middle lane. Required right onto McCoy and a little over a mile is Semoran (436). Right for airport, left for some rental agencies.

The second toll is between Exit 9 Tradeport and Exit 10 Semoran.

I just had the same thing happen to me from Thrifty. I recall a toll plaza and that it was not manned. It had a coin slot so I put the money in, got a green light and went through. Any ideas? I plan on stopping the charge on my credit card and calling the car rental company.

Heading back to the airport, the tolls are the type where you have to "exit" to pay the toll. We made this mistake once and had to pay thru the rental car company before we got our Sunpass thing (which allows you to keep driving on the road without going off to pay the toll). I don't remember if heading from the airport to Disney was the same last trip or not.

When you're unfamiliar with the area, rushing to get your flight possibly, distracted by things going on in the car, whatever - it's not that hard to miss that toll set up if you are unfamiliar with that type of tolling system. I had never seen that before when it happened to us. So it's not impossible that the charge is valid.

Oops - I see now that Endeavor has provided specific info on the toll set up heading west from the airport.

I would also call the rental car company. One of the best tips I've received on Dis is to get receipts for all of our tolls.

However, when we were returning to the airport we exited for gas. When re-entering, we paid the toll (there were no attendants) and could not get the gate to open. We paid it again, it opened and then as soon as we passed an alarm sounded. We pulled over, but there was no one to ask for help. We contacted the Expressway Authority as soon as we arrived home and they sent us an email stating the toll booth had problems and we would not be fined. It was interesting because they also said "that happens all of the time at that toll booth".
