Here's another question...

What is the closest beach to WDW? We've never been to WDW and we want to go while we are there in FL. I have been to the beach but that was up in Jacksonville when I used to live there. i have never been to central FL before.

Do you want to do East coast or Gulf beach? Cocoa Beach would be about 1 1/2 hrs. from WDW. Daytona would be about that far also.

The quickest to get to is usually either Cocoa or Daytona; I find it quicker to reach Daytona, even though it's a little further away as the crow flies.

I've read everywhere that Daytona beach is about 45mins and Cocoa Beach is about an hour from Disney?

From the airport that may be the correct times but it is about 30 mins to the airport and then you have the drive to Daytona or Cocoa Beach.

I was hoping to go to the East coast. Also are there any clear water beaches? I mean water like the keys where you can see to the bottom.

You need to go much further south for the quiet, clear water beaches, like the Caribbean. The water around Daytona and Cocoa is not clear, however, it is still fun, with waves to play in. You just can't see the bottom. I think the Gulf coast is calmer, and potentially more clear.

The Gulf would have the kind of beach you are looking for. As the other poster mentioned you would have to go much further south for clear water on the Atlantic.

How far is the Gulf Coast? Wife says she wants to have a shot at clear water.

Probably about 1 1/2 hours. Clearwater, Sarasota is about 2 hours. I am sure others can recommend some great Gulf beaches.

I already am addicted. Been on here about a week now and I cant leave. I had surgery on my wrist last month and I am still on short term disability. All I have to do is sit here and read. I had a bone in my wrist broke when I was 17 and the doctor told me it wasn't broken. Turns out it was and he never set it or put me in a cast. So I wound up with a 1/4 inch seperation in the bone. Itt just started giving me trouble lately (I'm 32 now. Yeah, wow.) so I had it fixed. Oh yeah, btw, this happened while I was living in Jacksonville, FL.
